When Wendy West was born on October 31, 2000, five-year-old Wally West was the most ecstatic little boy in the world. And even as a young child Wally swore to himself to keep his sister safe. To bring joy to her life as her older brother.
As the West siblings grew older, they had always favored the amazing superheroes that appeared on T.V, Wally specifically admiring the Flash, versus Wendy who always preferred Batman or Zatara. The young brunette had always been fascinated by magic. Especially witches.
When Wally was eleven, he found out his Uncle Barry was the one and only Flash himself. After which, he replicated the accident that turned him into Flash and the next thing he knew, he could break the sound barrier in his sneakers. Of course, the first person he told was his eight-year-old sister. After that, he told his uncle, begging him to allow him to be his side-kick. And it wasn't long before Barry finally gave in and Kid Flash was born.
When Wendy was eight-years-old, she was abducted by an unknown organization and experimented on for two weeks. Wendy couldn't tell you every experience there. She couldn't even remember most of it. It was almost as if someone else had control of her and she was just watching it all like a movie. But at the end of those unbearable two weeks, the League had finally found her. But her abducters had already changed her life forever.
After two more weeks in the hospital, Wendy had finally been able to come home and resume her normal life. Minus the therapy with Dinah Lance... amongst other things. Things such as Wendy shooting a blast of scarlet energy through her wall and into her brother's room while she was having a nightmare. Or when she voiced Wally's thoughts at the dinner table. The West's had to face the fact that Wendy had obtained super-powers.
After the League had found out, there was one Leaguer who was quick to claim her as his protégés, having said that not only had Wendy obtained powers, but she possessed a very powerful ancient magic. From then, Zatara trained her, and even gave her a hero name.
