POV. Darren

I woke up with swollen eyes and a pillow soaked with tears. I had cried myself to sleep. The pain from the night before still lingered in my chest, but I knew I had to move forward. I got up slowly, feeling every muscle protest as I made my way to the bathroom to wash my face. Looking at myself in the mirror, I hardly recognized my reflection. How could a single kiss, and its subsequent rejection, affect me so much?

As I prepared to go downstairs for breakfast, I heard the hustle and bustle of the house. The guys were already awake, laughing and joking as if nothing had happened. I took a deep breath and joined them in the kitchen.

-Good morning!- Tyler said with a radiant smile. -We've got plans to go to the beach today. Are you in?-

-Yeah, sure- I replied with a forced smile.

Justin, Kane, and the others were already discussing who would bring what, while T/N and Oliver prepared breakfast. Regie was there, sitting at the table, staring at his phone. When he sensed my presence, he looked up, and our eyes met briefly before we both looked away.

We had a quick breakfast and got ready to leave. The ride to the beach was loud and full of laughter, but I felt disconnected, as if I were watching everything through a screen. Regie and I barely exchanged words, and though the others didn't seem to notice, the silence between us was deafening to me.

When we arrived at the beach, everyone ran towards the water, leaving their things on the sand. I stayed back for a moment, trying to muster the energy to join them. Finally, I grabbed my towel and headed to a quieter corner, distancing myself a bit from the group. I needed a moment alone to sort out my thoughts.

I lay down on the towel, closed my eyes, and let the sun caress my skin. I tried to focus on the sound of the waves and the smell of salt in the air. Suddenly, I felt a shadow over me, and when I opened my eyes, I saw Regie standing beside me.

-Can I sit?- he asked timidly.

I nodded without saying anything, and he sat down next to me on the sand. We stayed silent for a while, listening to the ebb and flow of the sea. I didn't know what to say, and he seemed okay with that, as if nothing had happened.

-Are you okay?- he finally asked, breaking the silence.

-Yeah, I just needed a moment alone- I replied, trying to sound convincing.

-I understand- he said, looking towards the water. -Sometimes being alone is the best.-

Regie settled into the sand, and despite the sadness engulfing me, I couldn't help but feel a bit relieved by his presence. The others started playing in the water, laughing and shouting. In the distance, I could hear T/N cheering on Justin and Kane in an impromptu volleyball match.

Throughout the day, T/N watched me closely. Every time I met her gaze, she smiled softly, but there was a concern in her eyes that I couldn't ignore. While everyone else had fun, I felt trapped in my thoughts, my mind full of confusion and pain.

When we decided to take a break for lunch, I sat in the sand with the group. Tyler and Oliver talked animatedly, while Regie laughed at something Justin said. But I could barely focus on the conversation. My mind wandered, and I felt T/N casting worried glances at me.

After eating, Regie got up to join the others in the water. However, I couldn't move. I just wanted to stay there, lost in my thoughts. T/N approached me, looking at me with a mix of compassion and determination.

-Darren- she said, breaking the silence. -Do you mind if we talk for a moment?-

I nodded, feeling that it was what I needed. She led me to a spot a bit further away, where the noise of the beach faded.
