The study is dimly lit, save for the dancing glow of the twin flames burning from the sconces just above your desk. You don't always write in the dark, but when you need to get into your creative mindset you shut down all distractions and immerse yourself in the story unfolding before your eyes. Your emotions flow as words erupt for your fingers and ideas swirl in your mind.
You once wrote straight through an earthquake and hardly noticed the rumbling of the floor below you. When you're like this, little can distract your focus. You're no longer a writer but a voyeur, peering into the story unfolding before your eyes fixated on the screen in front of you.
It's subtle at first, your feel your mouth watering in response to the stimulation of your olfactory before your brain registers a roasted smell of Columbian coffee beans filling the study.
Your body betrays your mind as it trembles in anticipation of the rush from caffeine and the complex layers of roasted and creamy flavors swirling in your mouth, your tongue breaks the seal of your lips moistening their fullness. You keep pounding away at the keyboard. Hands racing like the characters in the story.
You feel the steam brush your cheek leaving it slightly warm and moist, followed by a cooling sensation as the mug is placed just behind your keyboard. Suddenly making you aware of the fact you're no longer alone. You're annoyed and don't allow yourself to break thought.
Then you see it, the one thing that you could never resist. Your other source of late nights full of excitement and fervorous energy. That thing that could lure you from the solitude of your writing haven. You try to stay annoyed, but how could you? He knows your only weakness and he knows how to use it against you.
Finally allowing a smile to sweep your face, you grab that box I just placed on your desk. You know what I want and you want it just as badly. You swirl your chair to face me and look directly into my eyes, "Yahtzee" you say with a mischievous tone.
