Two Worlds
(Three Months prior to the events of Children of the Gods.)
"It's my last tour, I promise," Major General Geroge Hammond looked at his youngest daughter and two young granddaughters from his son..
"Where now?" the almost 18 year old, Allyson, looked at her father with disappointment.
"Colorado," he replied.
Allyson rolled her eyes, "Fine."
George gave a silent sigh. Life was especially hard after the loss of his wife from cancer four years ago and the sudden loss of his son and his daughter-in-law last year. He finally decided this was the last tour, which General West promised that it was going to be a cake walk, and it was going to be his last. "It's only for a year," he said, "Ally, a year and I'm done."
"You promise?" Ally groaned.
"Promise," Hammond said, hugging his daughter.
That one year promise would be broken and little did they know, the Hammond family lives were about to change forever.
Nine months later
Ally were tucking her nieces in for the night. Since moving to Colorado Springs last year, her Father was spending more and more nights away from home. The nights he did come home, he was stressed and because it was all classified, he couldn't talk about it. She knew it had to be hard on him, but she didn't pressure him. After Tessa and Kayla were asleep, she went downstairs to start her paper. Being a freshman in college was hard work, but she was managing it well enough.
The house phone rang.
"Hammond household," she answered.
"Allyson Hammond?" The voice on the other end confirmed.
"Yes?"
"This is Dr Janet Fraiser, at the infirmary at the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, I'm afraid your father has been admitted with an illness this time. Unfortunately, I can't discuss it at this time. We are taking care, of him the best we know how, but it might be a while before he can come home."
Ally was too stunned to even speak, "What?" She took her time and then lost her cool, "What are you people doing down there?"
"I'm sorry, " The voice named Dr Fraiser replied.
"I know I know, you can't say, that's classified, I know the drill," Ally said, "Please keep me updated with what you can." Ally hung up the phone. "Was this how mom felt when dad was deployed?" She thought aloud. I hope he is ok, she prayed silently for her dad to get better. She knew and growing up a military brat, she knew better than to ask for more information.
At that exact moment across the known universe on a planet inhabited by humans very much like us, a young advanced university student was completing his studies. Jonas Quinn of Kelowna, was one of the youngest, most brilliant minds Kelowna had ever seen. Of course, unknown to him, he was under constant surveillance by both his own government and those of his country's enemies, the Andaris and the Tyrannis, all wanting his brilliant mind. Unknown to him, that made him dangerous. His professor Kiernan had taken a special interest in his studies, and even asked to see him upon completion of his studies. At 25 years of age, he was the youngest Kelownan ever to finish Advanced Studies at University by at least 5 years. He was on his way to Professor Kiernan's now. He knocked on the door.
"Come in," the gruff voice answered.
Jonas opened the door, 'You asked to see me before I left, professor?"
