The sun began to rise high above the sky, shining its gentle and warming rays of light on a variety of homes and small apartment buildings in the Shizuoka Prefecture. It was a perfect morning to some; There was hardly a cloud in the sky. Today, we focus on one particular apartment building. The rays of the sun penetrate one apartment and one room in particular. Though he doesn't know it yet, this room houses the future number-one Hero of Japan: Izuku Midoriya.
Eighty percent of the world's population has superpowers that the public has dubbed 'Quirks.' The other twenty percent is known as 'Quirkless.' With how prevalent Quirks are nowadays, being Quirkless is equivalent to having an extremely infectious disease. People with quirks do their absolute best not to associate with those without Quirks. Quirkless persons are treated as the outcasts of society. They're treated as if they don't deserve the air they breathe. That's how Izuku Midoriya feels, at least.
He was diagnosed as quirkless when he was four years old, the age at which children typically discover their quirks. Though his mother was confident he would have a quirk, he was somehow born without one. Despite this, Izuku still aspires to become a Hero, Quirk or not.
It had taken a few minutes, but Izuku was finally woken up by the sun's rays shining through his partially open blinds. He let out a groan before he rose from his bed, revealing a head of messy black hair with dark green highlights. He groggily rubbed his eyes before looking at the alarm clock on his bedside stand. "Have to get ready for school," Izuku muttered almost reluctantly. Izuku enjoyed school; he was incredibly smart and perceptive for his age, but being the only cordless kid in his class made things a little tricky.
Izuku typically gave himself an hour every morning to prepare for the day ahead of him. He would shower, change clothes, have breakfast, brush his teeth, and relax a little before heading off to school. Izuku removed the covers from himself and swung his legs over before settling them on the cool floor. When he went to stand up, he stumbled slightly. His hand shot out to his bedside stand to stabilize himself while his other hand went to his head, where it was thumping in pain.
"Kacchan's explosion must have done more damage than I thought. I can barely remember anything from yesterday," Izuku said to himself. Once the throbbing in his head had subsided sufficiently, he began his morning routine. He pushed himself off his bed and made his way to the bathroom. He turned the shower on and stripped himself of all his clothes, allowing the water to reach the right temperature. Once he was done stripping, he stepped into the shower and proceeded to clean himself.
Once he stepped out of the shower, after turning it off and drying himself off, he made his way to his bedroom with nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. He opened the sliding door of his closet and grabbed a fresh, undamaged school uniform. "I hope Kacchan doesn't try anything else today. This is my last good uniform," Izuku said to himself before slipping it on. Once he finished changing into his uniform, he grabbed his pajamas and deposited them in the hamper before returning the towel to the bathroom.
After Izuku had returned the towel to its rightful place, he grabbed his phone from his pocket and checked the time. He had plenty of time left before he needed to leave. He made his way into the kitchen, grabbing a bowl and spoon alongside some cereal and milk from the fridge. He sat everything on the table before sitting himself in a chair. He said a quick prayer before he began to serve himself.
As Izuku was eating his breakfast, he was on his phone, scrolling through a few of the local news outlets, scoring them for any Hero activity in his area. As he was scrolling through one app in particular, one story in particular caught his eye. Intrigued, he tapped on the story and read the title. "Large dragon-like object flying in the sky near the Shizuoka Prefecture?" Izuku looked at the article confusedly before scrolling through the rest of the story.
