After Some Time

I sit on the bed, trying to make sense of everything. How did my life take such a turn? My thoughts are interrupted by knock on the door. Who could it be at this hour? I stood up and opened the door to see the woman Arjun mentioned. She turns out to be an old lady in her 40s or 50s.

Nirmala: "Hello dear, you must be the new girl. I'm Nirmala, the head lady of the servants. You can call me Maasi."

Gauri: "Hi, I'm Gauri. Gauri Kumar."

Maasi! The word brought back memories of Noor Maasi and Aryan Buddy (Shivaay's parents). They must be here too. Where could they be? Maybe in their room. I will meet them tomorrow morning.

Nirmala: "You must be tired. Let's just sleep; we will talk later."

Gauri: okay

On The Other Side

Shivaay's Perspective:

I head to my office, my mind racing with thoughts about Gauri. Why does  her alluring aroma feel so familiar? But I can't let it cloud my judgment. I sit at my desk and wait for Arjun. When he finally arrives, he looks concerned.

Shivaay: "Did you place her in the quarters?"

Shivaay: "Did you place her in the quarters?"

Arjun: "Yes, sir. She's in Nirmala Maasi's room, and I also told Nirmala Maasi about her."

Shivaay: "Good. Now, about G4. Find a new girl as soon as possible. Also, we need to tighten the security. There can't be any more slip-ups."

Arjun: "Understood, sir."

Gauri's Perspective:

Nirmala Maasi made the bed while talking, her voice gentle yet authoritative. The more she talks, the more I love her personality, and then I realize how different my life will be here.

Nirmala: "You'll be working mostly in the kitchen and cleaning the main hall. If you need anything, just let me know."

Gauri: "Thank you, Maasi."

Next day

In The Kitchen

As the day goes on, I immerse myself in the tasks assigned to me

As the day goes on, I immerse myself in the tasks assigned to me. The scent of spices and fresh vegetables fills the kitchen, grounding me. Now I am washing the dishes, but I can't stop thinking about Shivaay and the promise he made—or rather, the one he didn't. My family's safety depends on my actions. I also need to figure out how to meet Noor Maasi and Buddy, and I need to find out more about my mother's death. What do I do? Think, Gauri, think... wait, I have a plan.

Gauri: "Nirmala Maasi, after this task, can I go and do the dusting in the rooms?"

Nirmala: "Okay, dear, go ahead. But remember, don't go into the rooms on the ground floor and the top floor because the top floor one is Shivaay's room, and he doesn't allow other workers in his room except me."

Gauri: "Okay, and what about the room on the ground floor?"

Nirmala paused, her eyes flickering with an unspoken warning. "Don't ask me about that; I can't answer it."

Gauri: "It's okay, I will not go in there."

Plan successful. Now I will go into each and every room and find something. I believe that I will find something in this house related to my mother because both my dad and Buddy worked together, and my mom and Noor Maasi are childhood friends. Also, I will get the chance to meet them.

On The Other Side

Shivaay's Perspective:

I go through the day, managing various business affairs, but Gauri's presence lingers in the back of my mind. She's a puzzle I need to solve. Why do I feel something familiar about her, or is it just my thoughts?

As evening approaches, I decide to check on Gauri. When I enter the kitchen, the scent of soap and wet dishes hits me. I find her washing the dishes with determination. Her resilience is admirable, but I can't let my guard down.

Shivaay: "How are you settling in?"

Gauri looks up, a mixture of defiance and fatigue in her eyes.

Gauri: "Hmm."

Gauri's Perspective:

Mumble, "Why is he here?"

Shivaay: "Words."

Gauri: "I'm fine. Just doing what needs to be done."

Shivaay: "Remember, your actions determine your family's fate. Stay out of trouble."

Gauri: " I know and I'm not the one looking for trouble."

Shivaay: "Good. Keep it that way."

As Shivaay leaves, I feel a surge of anger and determination. I won't be broken by this situation. I will find out the truth about my mother and make sure my family is safe. No matter what it takes.

Arjun's Perspective:

I watch the exchange between Shivaay and Gauri from a distance. There's something different about them, something that makes me believe she might be more than just a servant to him. I need to keep an eye on her, not just for Shivaay's sake but for my own curiosity.
