Klaus' POV

Our first training is about to begin. And damn, a bunch of us rookies against a current generation of Panzergruppe – Michael and Otto's gang.

Worst of all is that we don't have any good tanks like they do; just some bunch of Panzer IVs, few Panzer IIIs, StuG IIIs and Panzer IIs.

All this against two signature Tiger Is, Panthers, JagdPanzers and few Panzer IVs as well.

And that didn't please Erik at all. But I'm sure he has a plan, considering he's a top student in the first year.

After all, I simply gave up my silly idea to be the next Kommadant. I just can't.

Klaus: "Well, great..."

Erik: "If you worry about tanks, don't even think about it. I got us covered. All that I need is good timing for my plan."

Klaus: "Let's see what you got."

All first years lined up for briefing. I hate how everyone disapproves Erik as the commander of first year.

And once Erik pointed at the opponent, team froze  after they saw our aces.

And the cgerry on top; the rumors about Otto's gunner being bullied by those same people who bullied Erik yesterday are indeed true once I saw the scared look on his face.

Erik then turned towards me, wanting to ask me a favor. I, of course, had to accept every genius idea he might have in mind.

Erik: "I heard you're expert marksman."

Klaus: "I guess you can say so."

Erik: "You'll be our flag for this battle. And I don't accept no as an answer."

Klaus: "Jawohl."

...

Most of our tanks have been wiped out. To make it clear for you, Erik and I are the only ones left in our team.

It must have been the same fate they had as the first years as well. Treated like dogs and tossed around.

Otto: "Two Pz. IIIs left. How futile."

Michael: "Against odds before them, they won't make it alive. This battle is over."

Otto: "I do sense something off about them. And I advise not to get cocky."

I knew this will be our fate – standing no chance against Panzer aces of Bismarck. And despite the deal being 'just a casual training', it turned into a living hell. What can be possibly done now?

Erik: "We are not done yet, Klaus."

Klaus: "I hate to say it, but there is no way out of this killzone."

Erik: "Oh, Klaus, just because we're only ones left doesn't mean it's all over. You have to trust me. Their demise on this field is inevitable."

I see how different him and I are. If I was in his place, I would've just give up, and won't even bet an eye on that in future.

But he is different – even two of us remain alive, he still won't throw away any chances.

Klaus: "What's the plan, Erik...?" I smirked.

Erik: "Let's see... Break stuff; optics, radio, gun handles – anything in your reach. We'll break it on purpose so we can bait them in a trap! Oh, it will be a deception no one can predict!"

What a monster he is. Just like he said, we broke all stuff we possibly could; radios, elevation and traverse handles, optics.

And there he is; pretending to be an innocent little man while hiding a moster within.
