CHAPTER: 44 The Predicament

"Dante, we have a new guest here."

The name Zaidie heard and the hair color of the person ahead lead to dreadful hypothesis which she didn't want to be truth.

The said Dante turned around and proved Zaidie's hypothesis... legitimate.

He was none other that Dr. Dante Brecken, RMIH's alumni, Deep Sea Research Lab's prodigy, Zaiden i.e., Zaidie's mother's mate and her father.

This divulgement of events stuck Zaidie like a thunderbolt and electrocuted her beyond measures.

'What is this!? Everyone assumed him dead! It is true that they couldn't find his body but I never in my wildest dream have thought that I'd see him here and... alive.', she thought.

Although he had aged a little, that didn't mean he had changed completely for Zaidie not to decipher him.

Zaidie thought, 'If he is Dr. Dante Brecken then, the person who treated me and brought me here might be Dr. Pedro or Dr. Nash.'

Dante took a closer look at him and while looking Zaidie, he paused.
Why?

Because Zaidie had an inkling of a person Dante had put dearly in his heart.

But, that's it.

'I have seen so much in my life that coincidence like this doesn't amaze me much.' , thought Dante.

"Who is it?" asked Dante.

The other doctor replied, "The prospect omega selected by our hybrid. I appreciate their luck..."

"Will you guys stop this obscure speech and tell me what is going on here!?", Zaidie interrupted them, in frustration.

Dante looked at her, sat on a chair in front of her and said calmly, "I know that whatever we try, you neither be able to trust us nor will you be comfortable. And like this, you won't understand the whole situation. However, onlooking your persistence right now, I will tell you the major stuff. As for details, we'll gradually share it with you."

Then, he told Pedro to fetch him a glass of water.

Dante put that glass on the table and asked, "How about that?"

Zaidie put that glass on the table aside, leaned forward and said fiercely, "How about you just spill the beans?"

"That will take a lot of time. Don't worry, we will tell you gradually and surely."

"As you have already heard from him, my name is Dante and he..." Dante pointed at the person besides him and continued, "He is Pedro. We are Scientists here and sometimes we do doctors' work too."

He thought for a while then continued, "Test reports conducted on you shows that you are the one selected by our hybrid. You recently or a couple of weeks ago would have encountered a very strange Greymoss and surely he did something or, to be precise injected something in your pheromonal glands, right?"

The story told by Dante caught Zaidie off guard.

Dante was good at reading room. Her unresponsive stance confirmed his hypothesis. He continued, "That was a hybrid and not an original Greymoss."

"It was prepared in the lab."

"We made him."

At that moment, Zaidie got astonished. Not only for the fact that they made that hybrid in the lab but also for their guts of admitting it without any remorse.

Zaidie asked doubtfully, "On... on humans? You did that to a human?"

Both of them had no words to say further.

They knew what they did.

Pedro nodded in affirmation.

"Haa! Have you guys really lost all your morality of being a Scientist?", asked Zaidie in acrimony.

Both of them flinched upon her sudden outburst.

'To think I was indiscriminately searching for a person and working on a thesis was about doing something that brutal... sigh! This is crazy! Prodigy? Prodigy my foot!'

She said sarcastically to Dante, "I didn't knew Deep Sea Research Lab's prodigies were so licentious that they'd work for illegal syndicates which wrongfully abducts people and will help them in their heinous crimes in experimenting inordinately."

Then, it was their turn to get shocked.

Hearing that lab's name after a very long time from a total stranger and on the top of that, Dante's title of Prodigy.

'Unless she is a part of Deep Sea Research Lab, there is no way in the world for her to know as Diego won't have anything like that.' , thought Dante.

"How do you know that? Are you a researcher of Deep Sea Research Lab?", asked Pedro.

"Why should I tell you?" said Zaidie.

"How brazen! Not only did I treat you but also brought you here."

"Should I be grateful for that? You guys abducted me!"

Dante, who was listening their fighting said distinctively, "All right. If you don't want to it's fine. You hadn't washed yourself for many days and that isn't good and, now it's time for you to rest. So, how about you do that?"

"How can I believe you guys? What if you do something in the meantime?", said Zaidie defensively.

"If we wanted to do that, we wouldn't have treated you. And don't you remember that person who brought you here? He'll be coming here to meet you tomorrow." said Pedro.

"And, you are in your differentiation period plus, you are weak. You need proper medications, sanitation and rest. Even if you want to fight us, you have to be strong." , said Dante.

"As if, I have any other choice. Lead me to my room.", said Zaidie unwelcomely.

Dante told Pedro to take her to the room she would be staying from then on.

One thing Zaidie was sure is that from then on, her life would be a home of wreckage. She had to be strong otherwise she will not be able to endure it.
