AUTHOR'S POV

At the Rajput House

It was the 5th death anniversary of Jagdish Singh Rajput. The mansion bustled with activity as the family prepared for the puja.

“Arey Nandini, Suhana! Jaldi jaldi karo, pandit ji intezaar kar rahe honge.” Reema Singh Rajput called out to her two daughters-in-law.

“Ji maa, bas ho gaya hai,” Nandini replied.

“Nandini, vo kaha hai? Ab tak nahi aaya? Uske bina puja shuru nahi ho sakti!” Reema asked, her voice laced with impatience.

“Ji maa, vo—” Nandini was about to answer but was interrupted by a deep yet respectful voice.

“Yaha par hoon, dadi.”

A tall figure descended the stairs, rolling up the sleeves of his crisp white kurta.

It was him—Aditya Singh Rajput.

He greeted everyone by touching their feet, his expression calm yet unreadable. As he looked around, he noticed Avyaan and Adrisha bickering, while Ahana was engrossed in a video call on her laptop.

“Hey, kiddos! Can you two stop fighting for one day? It’s grandpa’s death anniversary! Behave,” Aditya snapped, his tone sharp.

Adrisha pouted. “Bhai, Ahana di’s friend invited her and me to her place, but Avi insists on coming with us!”

“Take him along, then,” Aditya suggested, brushing it off.

“But bhai, only girls are invited!” Adrisha protested, folding her arms.

A sweet voice chimed in from Ahana’s laptop, “Yaar, Ishu, take him. It won’t be a problem. Rupu is coming too; he won’t feel awkward.”

Hearing the voice, Aditya froze. His heart skipped a beat.

It sounded… familiar.

He leaned closer, trying to glimpse the person on the call, but the screen was out of view.

“Yeah! Thanks, di! Love you,” Avyaan cheered, while Adrisha glared at him, clearly frustrated.

Before Aditya could say anything, Nandini’s voice echoed through the hall.

“Why are you all still here? The puja is about to start! Go quickly!”

Everyone hurried to the space where the rituals were being performed.
