Dear Diary,

I wish I had better news to share today. Things have taken a strange turn since we brought Annika home. Mama isn't feeling well. She started complaining of a headache last night, and today she seems even worse. She's so pale and tired, and Papa is really worried. He's been fussing over her all day, and I can tell he's scared. I've never seen him like this before.

Annika is still with us, but she's acting so strangely. She hasn't eaten anything yet, even though Mama made that delicious soup for her. Instead, she's been running around the house and even disappearing for hours at a time. It's like she's full of energy one moment and completely vanished the next.

Papa tried talking to her, asking where she goes when she disappears, but she just smiles and doesn't say a word. It's so eerie. I swear, Diary, I've seen her vanish right before my eyes. One minute she's there, and the next, she's gone. I must be imagining things. Maybe it's the stress of everything that's happened, but it's all so unsettling.

Jakob doesn't seem to notice anything unusual. He's just happy to have someone new around. But I can see the worry in Papa's eyes, and I'm scared too. What if Annika brought something bad with her? What if Mama's sickness is connected to her? I feel terrible even thinking it, but everything is just so strange.

Mama keeps telling me not to worry and that she'll be fine, but I can see how much pain she's in. I've been trying to help out more around the house, but I feel so helpless.

Annika continues to wander off, and every time she comes back, she looks more and more exhausted, but still, she refuses to eat. It's like she's living in a world of her own, and we can't reach her.

I hope tomorrow brings better news. I can't stand seeing Mama like this, and I'm so confused about Annika. I want to believe that everything will be okay, but right now, it feels like we're caught in a bad dream.
