Junos POV:

Loud Sirens blared in from the open window, accompanied by a soft wind which disrupted the stillness of the bedroom.

The fabric of the curtains danced round, shining beams of light into the dark rooms crooked floorboards.

I stirred awake as the moonlight shone onto my face, disturbing my slumber. With a stretch, the popping sound of my joints as I straightened out filled the more or less silence of the night.

I shifted myself to the edge of my bed and lifted myself up. Standing there in my bedroom, a cold shiver went through my body as I grabbed the handle of the window, attempting to shut out the nights cool breeze.

BANG

The silence of the night was disturbed as I jolted, the noise taking me by surprise. Car alarms blared as light illuminated the night, slightly more brighter than any lamppost could produce.

'What the hell was that? Did somebody crash a car or something?'

I stood there for a moment in confusion before turning away from the window and swivelling around on the balls of my feet. Walking over to my bedside table, I flick my aged lamp on, which makes me close my eyes for a moment before they can have time to adjust. Rubbing my eyes with the corners of my knuckles, I walk over to my dresser and throw on a pair of socks, some faded black jeans and a plain, navy tank top.

It's not like i'm gonna be able to sleep again now i'm awake.

That's always something that has happened to me. Once i'm awake that's it for the rest of the night. Not a clue why though.

The moon high in the sky indicated It was late at night, but my mother still hadn't come home yet.

I hadn't seen much of  my mother recently, since she had a lot of business to take care of at work.

There's been a massive inflation of crimes recently, it's been keeping the whole Police Department busy, I heard.

Making my way through the living room I stopped outside my sisters bedroom. Her door was slightly cracked open, letting the hallway lamps light flood in.

Cracking the door open a little more, I see her sat in an upright position in her bed, clutching onto her stuffed animal, her hand up to her mouth and an expression of worry plastered on her face.

"J-Juno? Are you up because of the noise too?"

Janet's voice was laced with worry, so as I approached her bed I let out a smile, trying to ease her worries.

I sat down on the edge of her bed and faced her, placing a hand on her knee as an act of providing her comfort.

"Yeah, I heard it too. It must've been something a few blocks away, so don't worry. It's not close to our apartment."

Her eyes darted to the window which could be spotted from her room in the living room.

She let out a small sigh of relief as she opened her mouth to speak.

"When is Mom-"

Janet's question was cut off by a loud scream from down the corridor on the same floor as our apartment.

My head whipped around to where the noise would've come from, straining my ears to hear out for any other sounds.

'What the fuck if going on out there?'
