PILOT
The dance of deception
—
Y/N's POV
Lou had been pestering me for ages about an upcoming masquerade ball for the higher ups, and she was utterly determined to get us in.
She was excited about the prospect of rubbing shoulders with artists, politicians, and the like, but her secret hope was to hook me up with a decent guy.
Given my string of toxic relationships, she had lost all hope in my love life and wanted me to find a better match.
But perhaps this ball would give her the chance to find her dream man as well, so we could finally go on those double dates she always fantasized about.
Weeks of searching and Lou had finally managed to find a way for us to get into the ball.
Now I was at her house getting ready, and her room was a chaotic mess, with dresses and makeup scattered all over. Lou was in a panicked state, fretting about her appearance every few moments.
"Y/n, I can't breathe!" she exclaimed in a nervous tone. "What if Alex Turner happens to be there? I need to look my best!" she said as she hurriedly put her hair into a neat bun.
Lou turned to me, setting up my makeup as she placed a masquerade mask over my face. Her excitement was palpable,"Calm down! What would Arctic Monkeys be doing in Japan?" I retorted, my annoyance mingled with affection.
We stood side by side in front of the mirror, both of us admiring our reflections. "We look so fucking good!" I exclaimed, and Lou clapped her hands together proudly, satisfied with her handiwork.
The drive to the hall was short, and as we listened to the music playing off Lou's aux, we sang along; The music helped lighten the mood and calm Lou's nerves a bit.
Once we stepped into the crowded room, the echoes of chatter filled the air. Everyone looked regal and elegant, and I couldn't help but feel a bit out of place amidst the lavishness.
The wealthy aroma was tangible, but I refused to let my insecurities take hold. After all, Lou have tried her best.
SANZU'S POV:
It felt like some cruel twist of fate that on a perfectly relaxing Friday, I was stuck following orders and attending a ball instead of enjoying myself.
I hated mingling with the trashy lowlifes of the community, and there were plenty of other things I'd rather be doing. But for now, all I could do was search for the elusive Y/N L/N, as instructed.
"Sanzu, wait up!" a familiar voice called out to me from behind. Great, just when I thought this day couldn't get any worse. Ran, the last person I wanted to deal with.
"And for what reason?" I rolled my eyes, raising an eyebrow at him as he got into the passenger seat next to me.
"Unlike you," Ran smirked, "I know how to seduce women. You'll need my help." He had a point; I had little patience for dealing with women, they were insufferable.
3RD PERSON's POV
Once Sanzu and Ran were both settled in the car, Sanzu started the engine and they set off towards the location of the ball.
The car ride was mostly quiet, with only the sound of the engine and the occasional passing vehicles breaking the silence.
Sanzu was gripping the steering wheel tightly, his mind already focused on the task at hand, while Ran was casually scrolling through his phone, clearly bored with the ride.
