Aiden recklessly rushes across the deserted street toward the red pickup truck he spotted a few feet away. The driver's side window is rolled down, allowing us easy access inside. But before Aiden could poke around in there, I rush over with my bow raised.

"Hold on, something could be in here." I warn, stepping in front of him protectively.

He chuckles, but he doesn't get in my way. I aim an arrow into the car, leaning closer and checking the backseats as well. Aiden leans his shoulder against the door, watching me with amusement.

"Anything deadly in there?"

I back away and shoot him a bored side glance, "There could have been."

He continues to smile, finding this anything but alarming. But once I've made sure nothing was hiding inside the truck, I beckoned the rest over.

Ashlyn raises a brow from where she stood with the others, "Does it have the keys?"

I hold back a laugh as Aiden dives headfirst into the front, rummaging through the cupholders and console for any sign of car keys. I step back to avoid the swing of his legs as he tries to stop himself from falling in.

"Help-" He yelps, attempting to pull himself back out.

I grin, watching him struggle for a moment before I decide to be a good friend and help him out. I sling my bow over my shoulder and pull his legs back down onto the road. He heaves out a sigh and pushes his blonde waves out of his face.

"Well?" I ask.

He smiles over at me as he raises his hand. I look with a proud expression as he spins the keys around his finger.

"Nice." Ashlyn comments and makes her way over, with the others trailing behind her.

Aiden reaches his palm out for me to take the keys. I stare down at them resting in his hand, but instead of taking them, I freeze up. I feel my raised hand shake slightly and I drop it back down to my side.

I can't...

A flash of Tyler's body pierced into the tree trunk attacks my mind. I grimace at the memory, a reminder of why I don't deserve to ever sit behind a wheel again.

If I take the keys, will someone else get hurt-

I feel a pair of green eyes burning into the back of my head. A hand then rests over my shoulder hesitantly, followed by a pitiful voice,

"Y/N, do you want me to-"

Ashlyn's offer is interrupted by Aiden's words, "I can drive!"

We both whip our heads over to the boy who's now carelessly juggling the keys in between his hands.

"Didn't you say you've only driven go-karts?" Ashlyn asks, quick to be skeptical at the idea of Aiden driving.

He shrugs, "Yeah, but it's basically the same thing, right?"

I raise my eyebrows at him and shake my head, "Not really."

---

"Still think it's like driving a go-kart?!" I shout from the backseat, holding onto Tyler's legs sprawled across my lap.

I am about to protest when he makes another sharp turn. But I don't get a word out before the car lurches to a sudden stop, sending me forward. But Ben's strong-arm flies in front of Taylor and I, stopping the momentum and us from jolting out of our seats.

I hear Tyler grunt quietly against Taylor and I frown. I look out the window to see we've somehow made it to the school, despite Aiden's poor skills.

Ashlyn shifts in her seat and looks over her shoulder at us.
