The beginning

It all began with a virus; it started out small, and scientists thought it was no big deal, it was just like the flu. Suddenly though, the virus had evolved into something much bigger. It couldn't be contained or cured, millions and eventually even billions of people had died, and we couldn't stop it. So you know what we did to get rid of it? We killed anyone who had it; or anyone we even suspected may have it. I don't care what anyone says, it was the right thing to do to get rid of that nasty thing, there was nothing else we could have done. Though still, I feel shameful for what I have done. That was only the first phase and it had killed roughly 4 billion people, leaving just barely 6 billion people alive, though whom all suffered, those who survived lost loved ones; friends, family, partners, children. Those who survived, suffered an even worse fate.

Next, deadly natural disasters occurred on all continents, there were tornadoes and hurricanes in the Americas, flash floods and lightning strikes in Europe, extreme heat waves in Africa, Tsunamis in Asia, and all of Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and Oceania had sank into the ocean. After all that only roughly one billion people were still alive around the world.

We spent months trying to repopulate and fix what had broken, thinking it had ended, we even got the population back up to 1.5 billion people, we were doing better. But out of nowhere people turned savage, as if they suddenly switched modes at the flick of a switch inside them, and all the progress we had made, was just gone. Babies were sacrificed to "The Saviour" and so were their mothers, those of us who stayed sane, and the mothers and children who are still alive have hidden. I don't even know how many people are still alive but I know it's less than a billion at this point.
