I can feel my eyes move under my lids but I couldn't open them. It feels stuck. I will my body to work but it gives out before I could try.
I feel a feather soft touch in my forehead and lips. I am so cold. The touch of something warm on my skin, of my palms, and face makes me want to hold that warmth into me closer and never let go.
"I love you sweetheart. You'll always live in my heart even if you hate me in yours."
I hear a soothing voice in my fever dream. It sounds exactly like him. I must be mistaken because there's no chance he'll ever want me.
He broke my heart.
I hear a beep sound which suspiciously feels like I am in a hospital. I try a little harder and peel my eyes open.
I see a large figure hovering over me. It's a man but I can't identify his facial features. I try to move my lips and ask him what he wants but my tongue feels dead.
"Aman..." A raspy sound comes out of my mouth. Why did I say his name in the first place?
I hate him.
The figure moves away as if it's hurting to see me in this state.
Who is it?
I try to speak, but the words won’t come. The monitors beep faster, louder, and everything around me blurs and doubles.
People rush toward me, checking my pulse, their voices distant. Through the haze, I see a woman crying in the corner, held tightly by a man. He shields her like he’d protect her from everything.
Once, someone made me feel that way. Safe. Loved.
But not anymore.
He left me.
The thought pulls me under as I drift in and out of consciousness. Finally, the darkness takes over, and I let it. I wish I could stay here forever, hidden from the light of day.
