Amelia's heart raced as she realized the true extent of Veron's involvement. She felt like she was trapped in a spider's web, with threads of deceit and danger closing in around her.

Determined to expose the truth, Amelia decided to confront Veron. She tracked him down to an abandoned cafe on the outskirts of town, her heart pounding in her chest.

As she entered, Veron looked up, his eyes flashing with a mixture of anger and fear. "You shouldn't be here," he growled, his voice low and menacing.

Amelia stood her ground, her voice steady. "I know what you did," she said, her eyes locked on his. "I know about the murders."

Veron's expression changed, his mask slipping for a moment. Amelia saw a glimmer of something else - something almost like sadness.

"It's not what you think," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm not a killer."

Amelia raised an eyebrow. "Then what are you?"

Veron hesitated, his eyes darting around the room. "I'm a pawn," he said finally. "A pawn in a game much bigger than you can imagine."

Suddenly, the door creaked open, and a figure loomed in the shadows. "Veron, you've said too much," a low voice growled.

Amelia's heart skipped a beat as she realized she was trapped. She was caught in a web of deceit, with no escape.
