The ground felt hard and rocky against her smooth palms. Carina turned around with much difficulty.

A grunt of pain left her as she felt like she was vacuumed and twisted through all her organs and revived.

Slowly Carina sat up as she looked around. The place had a dark and dead aura. Just as she was about to stand, she feel a chill of her back.

Carina looked to her right out of the corner of her eyes as she slowly turned around. Carina felt her breathe hitch as she looked right in the eyes of death.

'Perhaps she was dead, and he was here to claim her soul.' Carina silently thought looking at the sharp scythe in the hands of death.

Carina had read uncountable tales about death throughout her life. The cold and dark chilling aura was a living proof of the being of death.

Throughout the land of magic, the seven godly being were well known. The practice of their worship had long been subjected as a practice of dark art.

However, as a Royal House, the LeFay family still followed the traditions contrary to popular light beliefs. And they were the devotees of Death.

Life, Death, Fate, Magic, Light, Darkness and Destiny. Now looking right at one of them, the LeFay talisman warmed up, calming Carina's restless heart.

"What do you seek and what you fear, my Lady?" a cold and scratching voice resounded in the dark empty place.

'What do I seek?' Carina asked herself. She had already fulfilled her father's quest. To be honest, she didn't have any bindings to the world that she could care about most.

As if sensing her answer, death smiled lightly. "Sometimes what your heart desires might not be what you seek."

"I just wish want them to live. I want them to live a life they always wanted and wished for." Harry, Hermoine, Ron, Fred, George, Ginny, Luna, Neville, Draco... they should have never been involved in a war.

They were just children. It was their responsibility to protect them. Yet they were unable to provide a happy childhood for neither one of them.

Guilt. Though many times she had been told that she was just 5 years older than Harry, she felt she did have a responsibility to him as the Lady of House Black.

Considering Harry was Sirius's godson, she didn't try to find him. She didn't want to. Dumbledore and the order of phoenix, she hated them. And that clouded her judgement against a child.

"They have won, my Lady." Death replied after a brief moment of silence among them. "Good." Carina whispered.

"Do you fear me, my Lady?"

Carina fell in thought. Is there really anyone who didn't fear death? Voldemort indulged in the darkest dimensions of magic, created Horcruxes, wasn't it all to eacape the clutches of death?

However, Carina felt numb at this moment, "The life in this transitory world is the expectation of death. To renounce life is to escape from the expectation of annihilation."

"So no, I don't fear you, rather you might be a welcomed guest to me." Carina never felt a deep bond with anyone. She had lost both her parents very early.

Sirius wasn't there, being accused by the court and imprisoned in Azkaban.

The LeFay were annihilated in the first wizarding war, leaving her the only member of the family after her mother, the crowned queen of the monarch.

Carina had acquaintances sure, but she would dare say to be close to any of them. Or perhaps she wasn't keen on the attachment.

Death nodded knowingly. Perhaps he really did. "So I assume we are in the Land of Dead?"

"Yes, my Lady." a short reply followed by a long silence. Carina felt more at ease now than when she first woke up.

She didn't have anything to fear, or guilt now. The war had been won, she had avenged her parents.

Perhaps her only regret was Hazel. A beautiful Australian witch of muggle heritage. She was the light to Carina's aloof and cold life. Her smile filled with hope and her soft hair and warm breathe are now lost forever.

"You must be wondering why we are here now, My Lady." Carina remained silent this time.

They were devotees of death and she wasn't sure if that and the fact she came through the veil messed up something.

"Millenniums ago, I had met the three Peverell brother and gave them three artifacts of my realm after they prayed in my devotion with a pure soul." he continued with a little pause.

"A cloak that could hide them from my claws. A ring that could revive them from the threshold of my realm. And a wand that could protect them from my scythe." He looked intently at Carina.

"Do you know why the three brother started their own bloodlines so distinctly?" Carina contemplated before replying, "Because the three hallows together would make one of them... the master of death?"

Death laughed before shaking his head. Carina felt awkward for a moment. Telling one of the seven godly beings that with the artifacts he gave to them they could control him, was indeed mockingly hilarious.

"No. That's a children bedtime story. The reason was with the three hallows the three could live a long life. It wasn't immortality." Death slowly explained as he leaned against his scythe.

"Then why is Voldemort obsessed with the deathly hallows if it doesn't give immortality?" Carina frowned.

"Ahh Voldemort...theft of death. What an audacious name he had. When he first split his soul, a part of him was already dead. This enabled him to find some rather interesting things about the hallows."

Carina sighed. He was talking in riddles and she didn't like that...at all, godly being or not.

Carina looked at him with a vacant gaze fir a while, Death sighed, "You can call me Azrael."

"So Azrael, do the three hallows together provide immortality?" Carina raised her eyebrows in frustration.

"Its complicated. But to sum it all up, yes it does. Anyone possessing the three hallows of mine, passing to the Land of Death willingly and without fear and restrain would be granted immortality." Azrael smirked.

"The Peverell brothers didn't want this to restrain their brotherly bond and thus separated and spread a fake story about the whole thing."

"So Voldemort knew and this is why he wanted all the hallows. And the attack on the mystery department that night, they could have just left with the prophecy. Yet Bellatrix pushed Sirius through the veil. It was to test whether someone could come here through the veil or not."

Carina figured out the rest of the story. Azrael stood silently watching the maiden in front of him process the information. He was rather surprised to see her figure it out rather quickly.

A lady indeed worthy of his gift and chosen by fate and destiny.

"So I had the Hallows when I passed through here and neither did I fear you." Carina looked at Azrael who seemed to have soften his aura.

"Yes, my Lady. You are now the Immortal Witch, Queen of the Underworld."
