I woke up, hurting on the ruins. my eyes were heavy, I opened them with great difficulty. It was terribly dark, I tried to remember how I got here. after a while, a flood of memories entered my head, a ghost walking on all fours with cobwebs behind him, polergairst... and then Lucy and Holly running towards the door... Holly made it, but what about Lucy? I again had the image of her hanging on only her backpack, her fear in her eyes and panic when the poltergeist threw me. Lucy caught me as I fell, but she couldn't hold me for long because the poltergeist attacked again.-Lockwood...hold on...please.- she said with panic in her voice and tears.
- I'm sorry... - I croaked and let go of her hand, otherwise she would fall with me.
I heard her scream and then... only darkness.
"Luce..?" I croaked into the darkness. what if she fell somewhere too?
I thought in panic and started searching through the rubble, saying her name from time to time...I found nothing.
Hoping that my fear about Lucy was unjustified at this point, I continued down the corridor. The further I walked, the heavier the atmosphere became.
~Lockwood...~ I heard a whisper in the corridor ahead of me, just in case I moved forward with my only flare in my left and my rapier in my right.
"I have to get out of here," I thought, "the team needs me...Lucy needs me." the further I walked, the more the radiation of spiritual energy became stronger and irritated my eyes more and more. At the end of the corridor I noticed an open space. When I got there, I was stunned by the ghostly glow, there seemed to be dozens and even hundreds of ghosts standing by the wall everywhere, I remembered what George had said about this place, and apparently he was right, the ruins of an old prison... but apparently the historical sources were lying. When the prison was destroyed, they did not bother to transport these people. they were buried alive...
If I were Lucy, I would probably start talking to ghosts and I would probably feel sympathy for them, but oh well. Some ghosts started approaching me. so I held out my rapier in case they attacked me. I heard some of them whispering something, but I didn't understand anything. Among all these whispers and moans, one of them broke through.~Lockwood..~
The ghosts that had previously surrounded me now retreated to the wall and a blue light flashed at the end of the opposite corridor. What was so powerful that the ghosts themselves hid? I held out my rapier in front of me, my last candle was burning out on the stone floor, and only now I noticed a wax circle on it... a very familiar circle.
I turned away from the circle and looked towards the corridor. this thing was even closer. And at that moment the candle went out
- Shit! - I stood there, trying to light the last candle. When it lit up, I immediately looked at the thing in front of me... or rather someone~Lockwood~
at the mouth of the corridor stood the short figure of a girl with short hair and beautiful, now empty eyes.
- Luce... - I searched, she was hidden in black. As if she didn't want me to see her fully... but that voice... her voice.~Hey Lockwood...~ she said
stood there terrified, I had never felt like this, this pain in my chest...- L..luce..no..- I moaned quietly and my hands were shaking.
~ Don't be afraid... I didn't come to hurt you, I wanted to say goodbye...
I looked at her with pain, it couldn't be true...
- How... - A light sob shook my chest.
~ Isn't it obvious...? I fell and died, that's all. - she said sadly, but there was no hatred towards him in her voice. she didn't blame him. and that was the worst.
- Can... can you show yourself to me... come closer...? - I asked, barely able to string together the sentence.
~it's probably not the best idea~ she said, but she went away.
a quiet moan escaped my lips. Lucy stood in front of him with her bloody T-shirt in tatters, her head smashed, and her left leg bent at a strange angle.I'm sorry - I whispered and fell to my knees, releasing my rapier. - It should have been me! Not you! You didn't deserve this! I should die, not you! - I cried
~Don't cry Tony, you know I love you, I wouldn't want you to die~
I froze for a moment at the sound of my name and her words until something finally dawned on me and I was frozen when I realized how close the girl's figure was. Something wasn't right here.
- Luce would never call me "Tony" - I croaked and looked at the ghost. - You're not lucy...
~oh really?~ the ghost asked and I suddenly stepped back.~ What makes you say that? after I love you? - the ghost snorts
- You're not Lucy, she's alive. - I said, more confidently.
The ghost smiled darkly.~ That's right, I'm not... but I will be and you know it, you'll make Antony do it.~ he said, looking at Lucy's bloody face.
- No... - I whispered - It's not true...
~ But of course the truth, your arrogance and pride will contribute to this... I would advise you to say goodbye to it... ~ but the ghost didn't finish because the blade of someone's rapier pierced him right through.
- So are you talking here? - asked Lucy Caryle, standing behind the ghost that was just crumbling to dust.
