Los Angeles, known as the City of Angels, thrived as a bustling metropolis filled with aspiring celebrities making their mark in the entertainment industry encompassing television and movies. Moreover, its beaches beautifully complemented the vibrancy of the city.
Teresa Reyes lived on the other side of the city.
She resided in a small neighborhood, compose solely of people who identified as homosexuals, with her own identity falling within this category as well.
Teresa lived alone, across the street from where Bette and Tina resided, her two lesbian friends. They have been together for 7 years. She had only known them for 4 but she could see how much love the two held anytime she would come over and see them. They were truly a beautiful couple.
She had a small circle of friends whom she spent most of her time with, enjoying their company. Occasionally, she would be seen with her closest friend, Shane, or either not seen by everyone, engrossed in her work as a dressmaker. Although she didn't consider herself a professional yet, having only crafted a few garments known only to her, she harbored dreams of excelling in the industry and establishing a notable reputation for herself in the future.
She always envisioned owning a boutique in the future, a cozy space filled with carefully curated clothing. The idea of this dream store occupied her thoughts each time she delicately sewed fabrics onto a mannequin in her private spare room. This room served as her creative sanctuary, a place where she poured her heart and soul into her creations, keeping her efforts hidden from prying eyes, believing her humble endeavors were too modest to be shared just yet.
Teresa was known for her "cool" fashion sense, never one to confine herself to a single style. Her wardrobe was a diverse collection of outfits, and she had a knack for effortlessly mixing and matching different pieces. This unique approach always caught people's attention, with strangers at bars often complimenting her on her unconventional yet stylish ensembles. Such admiration never failed to make Teresa feel appreciated and validated in her sartorial choices.
As she finished delicately sewing a piece of her soon-to-be skirt, she skillfully removed the excess pin from her lips before setting it down on the nearby table. Standing up, she took a moment to admire her creation, feeling a sense of accomplishment wash over her. The previous week, she had ventured to a nearby fabric store, where she discovered a vast array of black fabrics that immediately caught her eye. The warm and welcoming presence of Maria, the store's owner, always filled her with joy during these weekly visits. The friendly exchanges in Spanish that flowed effortlessly between them, marked by their shared Salvadoran heritage, added an extra layer of connection that set their interactions apart from the usual customer interactions at the store.
