AUTHOR POV
The rain lashed down like a relentless curse, casting a gloomy veil over the bustling railway station. The sound of raindrops hitting the metal roof was deafening, and the air was thick with the smell of wet earth and damp clothes. Arnavi Singhania, a fiery feminist in her early twenties, stood drenched and frustrated, her eyes fixed on the departure board. Her dark hair clung to her face, and her bright yellow raincoat was no match for the torrential downpour.
The train she desperately needed to catch, the 9:15 PM to Delhi, was delayed, and the announcement cited "technical difficulties" as the reason. Arnavi groaned in exasperation, checking her watch for what felt like the hundredth time. She was supposed to attend a critical meeting for her internship at a prestigious publishing house, and being late was not an option.
Just then, a tall, brooding figure emerged from the crowd, his chiseled features twisted in a scowl. Ruhaan Malhotra, a self-proclaimed misogynist, was not having a good day. His train, too, had been cancelled, and he was forced to wait out the storm. His sharp jawline was accentuated by a day's worth of stubble, and his piercing blue eyes seemed to bore into those around him.
As fate would have it, Arnavi and Ruhaan found themselves competing for the last available seat in the waiting room. The small space was packed with stranded passengers, all vying for a spot to sit and escape the rain. Their eyes met, and the air was charged with tension.
"I saw it first," Ruhaan growled, his deep voice dripping with entitlement.
"I don't think so," Arnavi shot back, her voice firm and confident. She stood her ground, her eyes flashing with defiance.
Ruhaan raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by her audacity. "You think you can take it from me? I don't think so, sweetheart."
Arnavi bristled at the condescending tone. "I'm not your sweetheart, and I'm not afraid of you. That seat is as much mine as it is yours."
The waiting room fell silent, with all eyes on the unfolding drama. Ruhaan sneered, but Arnavi held her ground, her heart racing with anticipation. Who would back down first?
