It's the last year of high school. And to my greatest happiness, we'll be going to the high school where my childhood friends are. I had packed everything for our move.

Oh, by the way, some information about me: my birthplace is India. I lived there till I was 9. We then moved to Australia. I have an older sister who is in university. Her name is Kamakhya.

She is more known as Kam since many find it difficult to pronounce her name. Same with me. Many call me Ari. Anyway, we sat in our car and Dad started to drive to Brisbane. Kamakhya didi and I were super excited, especially because we'll get to meet our childhood friends after a really long time.

Speaking of them, let me talk about them a little. Well, they are brothers. The older one is Conor.

The younger sibling is Jake.

Our families started off as business partners but as time flew, they became great friends

Our families started off as business partners but as time flew, they became great friends. We would meet them often at company parties. Slowly, we also became best buddies. I was especially close to Jake because we were the same age. We'll be staying with them for a while because sadly after di and my graduation, we'll be moving back to India. Our parents wanted our last year to be spent with our favorite people.

We reached Brisbane in the evening, the city lights twinkling like stars in the warm summer sky. The car ride had been long, but the anticipation of seeing family made it worth it. As we pulled up to my uncle's house, I felt a wave of excitement wash over me.

Dad rang the bell, and soon enough, Uncle Manny opened the door with a wide grin.

"Manny!!" Dad exclaimed, and they embraced like long-lost brothers.

Uncle Manny beamed, "Hema! Girls! Come in. We were waiting for you all."

The house smelled of delicious food and felt warm and welcoming. As we stepped inside, I saw Conor and Aunty setting up the table, their movements swift and practiced.

Aunty turned around with a joyful expression. "Y'all are here!!" She quickly hugged us, her warmth radiating through the embrace.

"Aww, Ari, you have grown so much. You have become cuter," she said, pinching my cheeks playfully.
