Friday doesn't come soon enough.
I spend the whole week in anticipation. Me and Max talk every single day, and I find that learning about him is my new favorite hobby. I'd never thought we'd have so much in common. He'd sent me flowers yesterday for my birthday and they were lovely. I'll admit it, I definitely cried a little.
My phone buzzes on the counter as I'm brushing my teeth. I finish and then pick it up to see a message from max saying, "come downstairs."
When I come down the stairs I pause at the bottom speechless. Max had the whole bottom floor decorated. There were balloons, streamers, and dozens of bouquets of flowers. Along the counter there were various desserts and brunch items. He'd really gone all out. There standing amongst all of it was Max, patiently letting me take it all in.
I take the last two steps down the stairs and fling myself at him. My arms wrap around his neck, legs wrapping around his waist. He's startled at first, but quickly bands an arm around my back. Holding me effortlessly with one arm. I grab his face and pepper it with kisses excitedly. He chuckles as I do it, and there's a shine to his beautiful eyes. I bury my face into his hair and breathe in his scent. I missed him, a lot more than I realized. It's making me sort of emotional.
"Liefje?" He says and I pull back to look at him. "What's wrong?" He says brushing a piece of hair back from my face.
"I'm just so happy Max, and I...missed you," I say the last part hesitantly.
"I missed you too," he says pressing his forehead to mine. I can't help the smile that I give him. "Do you like it though?" He says, and he puts me down.
"It's just perfect Max, really! It's the most wonderful thing anyone has done for me in a long time," I say wrapping an arm around his waist and leaning into him.
"You deserve it," he says dropping a kiss to my temple. Before I can protest, he changes the subject, "I might have to surprise you more often, if thats the greeting I get. Especially if this is what you're gonna wear." I turn red immediately, noting the tight long sleeve and lacy underwear I'm wearing.
"Sorry, I got so excited I forgot to get dressed," I say shyly.
"Again, I'm not complaining, greet me like that every day if you want," he says, and I shove his arm.
"Sooo, what do we have planned for today," I say
"I was thinking you and I could spend the day together here, then go to mine to get ready for the party tonight," he says as he pulls out my chair for me and starts making me a plate. It doesn't go unnoticed, no one had ever served me before themself.
"That sounds perfect," I say and thank him when he hands me my plate and a drink.
After Max is settled next to me, we eat and chat about our week, which is mainly just me talking about the new books I started reading. Max listens the entire time and it's honestly refreshing.
We end up spending most of the day just lounging around and enjoying each other's company. It was going to be hard to just act like Max's friend in front of everybody, especially after we'd spent all day together.
Currently I was in my closet, pulling my hair out, it looked like a tornado had hit it. I couldn't find anything to wear, sure I had more clothes than any singular person could need. But I was meeting Max's friends tonight and even worse, their girlfriends. I wanted them to like me, so so bad.
"Well, isn't this a sight?" Max chuckles and I find him leaning against the doorframe.
I look up from where I'm pouting in a pile of clothes on the floor. "I can't find anything to wear, I'm overthinking it, but I want them to like me," I huff out.
