"All my love, the piranha." Marjorie read from the card.
"Doesn't sound like they are so bad? I mean they sent flowers?" Charlotte said, trying to sound positive.
"Well then why are half of the flowers dead?" Marjorie asked, putting the tiny card down.

Autumn looked up from her computer, realizing who sent the flowers and the card. She looked between Marjorie and Charlotte, keeping her mouth shut.

"Wait! They're all dead?" Charlotte said, walking closer to Marjorie's desk to take a closer look at the flowers.
"Yeah. Doesn't sound well if we're going to be working together in the future. Like what does that mean?" Marjorie said, shaking her head.

Autumn took a huge breath in, and went back to working on her computer.

"Maybe it was a bad batch of flowers. You know how hard it is to keep flowers alive in a grocery store." Charlotte said.
"I guess." Marjorie said, turning to face Autumn. "You're quiet. Unusually quiet. What do you know?"
"Those flowers being dead wasn't because it's a 'bad batch'. They are intentional. It's how it works." Autumn said, looking at Marjorie.
"Do you know who the piranha is?" Charlotte said, sitting down.
"After seeing the flowers and hearing the note, I have a good idea." Autumn said, picking up her pen.
"Well then spill! Who is it??" Marjorie said, excitedly.
"I can tell you it's not a female." Autumn rolled her eyes.
"It's a guy?" Charlotte questioned.
"Then who is he? Spill Autumn!" Marjorie said, raising her voice.

The ladies were interrupted by a knock on the door.

"Hello Marjorie. I see you got my flowers." A taller man walked in the room.

Marjorie looked up at him, exchanging a quick look with Charlotte.

"Little sis." The man said, pointing to Autumn.
"Big brother." Autumn said, continuing writing something down.

Marjorie and Charlotte both gasped and looked at Autumn. Autumn just kept her head down, doing work.

"Hope you like the flowers. Sorry some are dead. I prefer them that way." The man said, smiling at Marjorie.

Marjorie and Charlotte watched as the man left the office. Autumn didn't say one word to either of them.

"Right. I'm going back into the rooms. I'll see you guys later." Charlotte said, getting up and walking out the door.
"Bye darling!" Marjorie called out.

Marjorie stayed silent and watched Autumn continue on with her work.

"Autumn—" Marjorie started.
"Don't. I know you have so many questions. I'm not in the mood to talk. I'll see you tomorrow." Autumn said, grabbing her purse and walking out the door.

Marjorie sat back in her chair. It was only 10am, and Autumn just left. Marjorie wrote down and said Autumn went home sick, so no eyebrows would be raised. She shook her head and opened her laptop back up to finish work.

* a few hours later *

"Are you kidding me?? God." Marjorie said, reading an email from head office.

Marjorie picked up her phone and dialed the sister nursery's number.

"Hello the nursery." The man who introduced himself earlier said.
"Hello. It's Marjorie, from the sister nursery." Marjorie said, rolling her eyes.
"Oh, Marjorie. What can I do for you?" The man asked, smiling on the other side of the phone.
"Well, two things. One, what is your name?" Marjorie asked.
"Why?" He replied.
"Because you didn't tell me your name when you said hello earlier. And the card was signed with 'piranha'. A nickname? What are we 12?" Marjorie said, getting annoyed.
"I worked hard to get that nickname. But whatever. It's Spring." The man said, smirking.
"I'm sorry?" Marjorie said, shocked.
"I'm kidding. I know how you guys love a seasonal name over there. It's Reece." The man said, laughing.
"Well. Reece, point two. I got an email saying I'm going to be lending you a member of staff for the next week?" Marjorie sighed.
"Correct. I fired a load of mine." Reece said.
"And why on earth would you do that?" Marjorie raised her voice.
"It's so much fun firing them." Reece smirked.
"It's not when I have to lend you my staff, leaving me short handed. Maybe stop firing good people??" Marjorie rolled her eyes.
"Good people? I was told that when Siobhan was still managing, your staff hated coming over here, and why is that?" Reece asked.
"Because your staff members are unbearable... yeah okay. I get it now. But could you hurry and hire more people?? I would like my staff member back full time." Marjorie said.
"I was just looking at the CVs before you called me." Reece smiled, looking over at his laptop.
"Well, I guess I should leave you to get back to it." Marjorie said.
"Okay. I would much rather talk to you though." Reece said, smiling.
"Well I don't want to talk to someone whose nickname is the piranha. Autumn just now texted me telling me about the kind of person you are." Marjorie said, looking at her phone to see that Autumn had finally given her some information.
"I see." Reece said, pausing.
"Now, I'm going to get back to work. You should too." Marjorie said, scoffing.
"Love a woman who takes charge." Reece said, before hanging up the phone.

Marjorie shook her head and she set the phone down. She replied to Autumn, talking about the conversation her and Reece just had over the phone. Autumn replied with a simple 'told you'. Marjorie turned her phone off and set it down. She thought about the last thing Reece said to her, and tucked her hair behind her ear.

"Hmm." Marjorie said.
