The couple arrived at Marjorie's house. Reece parked in the driveway, and Marjorie stayed in the passenger seat, staring at her house.
"You okay?" Reece asked, placing his hand on her knee.
"Oh I'm fine." Marjorie said, looking at him. "Haven't been here in a hot minute."
"Yeah. Let's go inside and get the rest of your stuff." Reece said, getting out of the car.
"I don't have that much stuff, to be honest." Marjorie said, getting out of the car.Marjorie grabbed her key out of her front pocket and opened the front door. She looked around and sighed. She walked into a room down the hall and grabbed a small box, carrying it out into the kitchen.
"What's that?" Reece asked, still standing at the doorway.
"A box." Marjorie said.
"No shit." Reece laughed.
"This has pictures in it. I never got around to hang these up. Kinda forgot what the pictures are of." Marjorie said, setting the box on the island.Marjorie carefully peeled back the tape and opened it. She dusted off the top picture, taking the small stack in her hands.
"That's a cute picture of you and Charlotte." Reece said, walking over to the island.
"Yeah. Back when I was blonde." Marjorie said, touching the photo.Marjorie set the photo of her and Charlotte to the side, sighing. The next photo in the stack was a pic of Autumn and her, wearing babydoll pajamas.
"Autumn? Really?" Reece asked.
"Yep. Your sister and I drank a lot. Well, once she started liking me." Marjorie said, giggling. "I don't remember why we were in these pajamas, but we look cute."
"Yeah, you do." Reece sighed.Marjorie flipped through a few more pictures, until one of them caught her eye. It was a black-haired Marjorie, holding Charlottes youngest daughter right after Charlotte had given birth. Marjorie had a huge smile on her face, sitting in the rocking chair.
"Whose baby is that?" Reece asked, seeing another one of Marjorie's hair colours.
"Charlottes youngest daughter. Charlotte was my first true friend at the nursery. Her youngest daughter was named after me. We have the same middle name." Marjorie said, tearing up.
"That's so sweet. I love your middle name." Reece said, rubbing Marjorie's back.
"I didn't like it when I was younger. But now I do. Charlotte surprised me when I showed up to hospital, and I bawled my eyes out. It was one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done for me." Marjorie said, wiping a stray tear that fell from her eyes.
"Well, I love you, Marjorie Frances." Reece said, kissing her cheek. "Charlottes youngest is named after the best woman ever."Marjorie smiled and leaned into Reece. She continued to look through more of the pictures, showing Reece her past hair colours.
"Wow. You've been so many colours." Reece said, holding tight to Marjorie.
"Yep. Black, blonde, ginger, red, brown, you name it, I've probably been that colour." Marjorie said, laughing.
"You look hot in every colour." Reece said, smirking. "You look hot all the fucking time."
"So do you." Marjorie giggled.Marjorie put the photos back in a stack and placed them carefully inside the box. She sighed, shutting the box and freeing herself from Reeces warm embrace. She went upstairs, grabbed a couple suitcases and packed the rest of her stuff up. She didn't have much, but she packed what she needed.
"Right." Marjorie said, looking at the three suitcases in front of her.
"You ready?" Reece asked, walking into her bedroom.
"Yeah." Marjorie said, standing up and sighing.Reece grabbed two of the suitcases, the heavier ones. Marjorie grabbed the lightest one and walked downstairs. Reece carried the suitcases out to his car like it was nothing.
"There." Reece said, opening the trunk of his car. "Give it to me."
"I can put my own suitcase into the car. You've got the first two, let me help out." Marjorie said, rolling her eyes.
"Nope." Reece said, swiftly putting the three suitcases in the back of his car. "You'll do little to no lifting when you're with me."
"If you insist." Marjorie said, throwing her hands up.Marjorie walked back in her house and took one good look around. She sighed, sitting down on the couch. Reece closed his trunk and walked back in the house, seeing Marjorie sitting on the couch. He walked over to her, sitting next to her.
"You alright?" Reece asked, placing a hand on her back.
"I'm fine." Marjorie nodded. "It's just weird, you know?"
"I'm.... not following." Reece said, taking a second to pause.
"Like I never thought my life would be like this. Having someone who loves me unconditionally. Having friends who are now my chosen family. This is the life I dreamed of when I was little. My life feels complete, I have everything." Marjorie said, refusing to make eye contact with Reece.Reece kissed her temple and wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight. He paused, admiring the woman in his arms.
"I feel the same way. Yeah, I was with Mia for 23 years. We 'loved' each other, but it just never felt..... right. My whole life I've gotten things wrong. You're the only thing I've managed to get right." Reece said, kissing her temple once more.
Marjorie took in a shaky breath and sighed. She faced Reece, kissing his lips softly. Reece wiped away the tears on Marjorie's face, and he fixed her hair. Marjorie smiled weakly, her dark blue eyes turning even darker. Reece kissed her forehead, smiling.
"I thank my lucky stars for you every night." Marjorie said, her voice slightly cracking.
"Me too, gorgeous, me too." Reece said, holding her tighter. The couple sat on Marjorie's couch and just held each other in comfortable silence. Marjorie would occasionally start crying again, and Reece would kiss every tear away. Reece broke the silence, hoping to cheer his girl up.
"I still cant believed you volunteered to watch Jamie." Reece said, smirking.
"Oh shut up." Marjorie said, holding back a laugh. "I'm an idiot."
"You said it, not me." Reece said, chuckling.Marjorie took a pillow from behind her and hit Reece. Reeces jaw dropped, grabbing the pillow from her hands and hit her back, immediately worrying that he made it worse. Marjorie covered her mouth and started laughing, putting her head in her hands.
"There's that sound I love." Reece thought, taking a sigh of relief.
