I woke up hooked to so many machines and monitors and bright ass lights. The room smelled like old hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies. I tried to sit up but I was in so much pain. My body felt like it could give out on me at any minute. I had the ugliest hospital gown on and my mouth was dry. And this headache was a killer. I pressed the nurse button on the remote sitting on the bed. A few minutes later a short, heavy set white woman came in.
"Hey sweetie, you up now?" She had the sweetest southern accent like she wasn't from round here.
"Can I ask what happened to me?" I said, my voice hoarse and cracked.
"Well-" she said checking my vitals and writing stuff down on a clipboard. "According to the police reports and EMT's you were kidnapped and held at gun point and pistol whipped in your head and you've got some injuries to you lower back. But luckily whoever did this had sympathy for your unborn child. You were a lucky one. And you have some great friends too cause three girls tried their best to stop it."
I looked around confused. I remember Jerkim and his friends grabbing me but I don't remember nothing after the first blow to my head. I wonder what three girls she talkin bout cause I owe them my life.
"Get you some rest sweetie and I'll be back to check on you again in s few." The nurse left out and I was left alone thinking of how my whole life changed. I looked around and noticed my clothes on the chair beside me. Even though I was in so much pain, I lifted myself up and reached over to my shoulder bag to see if my phone was in there. BINGO! Found it. I had so many missed calls. They were all numbers not saved in my phone except three of them and all three was from Carl. I also had four voicemails. Since I was bored I just decided to listen to them.
VOICEMAIL 1:
"Baby it's me. It's your mama, please call me back when you get this message. I love you."
I rolled my eyes. NEXT!
VOICEMAIL 2:
"Uh yea this Carl, call me whenever you're ready to leave but please be safe. It's some things I need to talk to you about and I really don't feel safe with you out at that place by yourself. Just stay around people you know and that will protect you. I'll be driving around the area."
Safe??? What's he protecting me from? I shrugged it off.
VOICEMAIL 3:
"BITCH!"
Now I was really confused. It was a female voice and I didn't recognize the number, but the same number left me another voicemail on my phone so I hurried and listened to it.
VOICEMAIL 4:
"Well well well, baby mama baby mama. You thought you could stay away from me for long? Haha, well baby girl get used to me being around, especially since you got my child and all. You thought I wouldn't find out? And you thought Carl was protecting you? I knew your young misguided ass would fall for my scheme. See, I was never feeling you. I just needed you to get closer to Marcus and since I wiped him out and I'm the one who introduced ya mama to crack and prostitution, you have nobody. Kel ass kicked you to the curb and don't call him either cause I'll find out. Carl tryna bitch out on my little plan, but I have people watching him too so the only person you have is me. I own you Jasamine. ME! You my property! And when I catch you, I'm not letting go."
Tears quickly rolled down my face. Why was God doing this to me? I didn't do nothing to deserve this. I had nowhere to go or no one to turn to. This man is a fuckin lunatic and knows my every move and everyone I associate with is now in danger because of me. I need to get in contact with Carl and Kel. I had to let them know what was up. But then I remembered Jerkim said he'll find out so he probably got some tracking shit on Kel phone.....I thought and thought. MYKIE!!! I still have her number. I'll just call from the hospital phone and I'll give her Carl's contact information and she can get in touch with him for me. I don't wanna sleep tonight knowing I'm here by myself. What if Jerkim comes here? Where is his crew? I quickly dialed Mykie's number from the hospital phone.
