The team arrived at Room B527, the tension palpable as they braced themselves for what lay within. This door wasn't as secure as the room to Tadashi's cell. Josie's remote disabling of the security system was enough to grant them access.
Inside, the room was a chaotic maze of lab equipment and chemical containers, with papers strewn across every surface. The walls were lined with shelves cluttered with vials and flasks, their eerie, glowing contents casting unsettling shadows in the dim light.
Wasabi gently guided Tadashi to the nearest lab stool. Tadashi's eyes, filled with urgency, darted to a heavy filing cabinet in the corner. "The file is in there," he said, his voice strained. "Look for anything related to a bio-weapon."
GoGo moved swiftly to the cabinet, and with Wasabi's help, began pulling open drawers. Inside were folders and documents, many of them covered in handwritten notes and technical jargon.
After a few tense moments of searching, GoGo pulled out a folder marked with a green biohazard symbol. "This has to be it," she said, opening it to reveal detailed notes on a bio-weapon, including its effects and antidote.
Tadashi's face went ashen as theyy read through the contents. "I've been forced into helping Callaghan develop illegal weapons, including this bio-weapon. It's a horrific infection that ravages the victim's body rapidly. Without the antidote—essentially, you're as good as dead."
As Tadashi spoke, Josie's voice crackled over the comms. "I uncovered information about weapons dealings on my father's laptop. He intended to sell the formula to foreign powers."
Wasabi's voice trembled with concern. "The effects... they sound like what Hiro's experiencing."
Tadashi's eyes widened in alarm. "What happened to Hiro?"
"He went searching for you," GoGo explained, "He got hurt and tried to downplay it, but now he's in the hospital. He's... really sick. He said you were the only one who could save him."
Josie added, "Hiro's been conducting his own research. He must have discovered the details about the bio-weapon and kept it hidden."
"Why would he lie?" Fred asked, confusion etched on his face.
Honey Lemon's face turned pale as she answered, "Because he was already infected and didn't want us to know."
Tadashi's voice was barely audible as he stammered, "How long has it been since Hiro was infected?"
Fred's voice was tight with worry. "It's been nearly a week."
Tadashi's panic was palpable. "We're running out of time. He's almost out of time!"
Wasabi, his expression grim but resolute, nodded. "Let's get moving. Josie, meet us SFIT."
The urgency in Wasabi's voice spurred the team into action. They quickly gathered the critical files and made their way back through the facility.
As they moved, the weight of their task pressed heavily upon them. Time was running out, and every moment counted in their race to make an antidote and stop the bio-weapon's devastating impact.
