"How's the meeting Astra?" my best friend of three years has decided that it's a good idea to call me half way through one of the most stressful meetings we've had this season.

"I want to stab everyone!"

"Well don't get blood on your dress. We have dinner reservations at seven."

"I should be able to finish this up before I actually get to that point where I have to start considering places to bury bodies. We just have to agree on the cover picture then I can head back to the penthouse and get ready for dinner."

"Try not to murder anyone before we can celebrate this evening."

"Ok then. I'll finish this up and meet you in two hours. Bye Lili!"

"Bye"

"WAIT Wait wait! Why are we going out again?"

"It's your birthday."

"It's not my birthday."

"It's definitely your birthday, Lili."

"Get me a calendar I'll prove it to- Oh wait never mind. Happy birthday to me."

I don't dignify Liliana with a response and simply hang up and turn back to my team who are still arguing over pictures.

"Right. The stats from last year show that a majority of the public prefer semi-casual clothes that can be worn in multiple situations, this means if we put the cover picture as semi-casual more people are likely to buy the catalogue. Correct?"

"You're right boss! Why didn't we think to look at the stats before?" My assistant says as though looking at the stats isn't supposed to be her job.

"Well that I really don't know. If we're finished here I have somewhere to be." I say picking up my signature red coat and black handbag.

As I leave all of my team say variations of goodbye and start clearing up the table full of thumbnail pictures and color samples. When I walk out the building I wish the security guards a good evening and smile up at the familiar "Chanel" sign on the front of the office before walking off in the direction of my apartment building. I live in the penthouse suite of a beautiful apartment building by the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées.

Around five minutes away from my apartment I stop at my favorite cafe; La Belle Époque. One of my first friends from when I moved to Paris was Céline, one of the full time waitresses there and the niece of the woman who runs it - Madame Juliette, ever since the first time I visited her aunt's cafe we've always sat down with a small plate of macaroons and gossiped about all of her difficult customers and all of my work problems.

"Bonjour Madame Juliette!" I say happily when I enter, the bell above the door ringing prettily to announce my entrance.

"Bonjour Astra. I assume you'll be wanting to talk to Céline with your usual macaroons." She says from where she's plating up a croissant for a customer.

"Oui, s'il vous plaît." I say and wander over to my usual table by the window.

"Astra! You'll never guess what's happened!" Céline is rushing over to me, quickly untying her apron.

"What is it? The last time you looked this excited you had managed to break up your crush and his girlfriend by giving her the wrong order."

"For the last time I didn't purposefully break them up!" I really didn't!" She adds when I look at her incredulously. "There's a new guy who just moved into the area. I served him earlier!"
