Living This Way....

Chapter 24

"So...what'd you do today?" Fran asked Angel, they were both sat in the living room, food in hands.

Angel was pushing the food around on her plate, still not much of an appetite forming. "Uh..." Angel said and looked up at the ceiling as if in thought "me and your mom went shopping" Angel said with a shrug

"Oh? Find anything you like?" Fran asked, sipping on his can, as he looked at her when she shrugged

"I mean, more than I had before so" Angel said and laughed slightly "yeah...that's..good" Fran said and nodded, silence falling.

"...we can't avoid it forever Fran" Angel said softly as she looked up from her plate and over at Fran, dropping the fork to the plate

He sighed and put his fork down too, turning his body to hers "I got invited to one of his parties. Said to bring a girl with me" Fran said shaking his head

Angel scanned his face for a minute and swallowed "so...you going?" She asked softly, analysing for any odd moments

"I'm gonna have to. It'll be another police officer. We'll figure it out don't worry-" Fran started and Angel shook her head, cutting him off as she spoke

"Take me" Angel said quickly. Fran's eyebrows furrowed "...what?" He said confused

"Take me with you. I know that place like the back of my hand. I know things you can do things you can't do. Things that Phoenix won't like. Fran I can help" Angel said trying to convince him

Fran repeatedly shook his head as Angel spoke "no..no, no Ange it's not...we can't- he'll know who you are! The man's obsessed with you it's not like he won't remember..." he broke off, how stunning you are, he had almost said. "It's not like he won't remember how you look Ange. You've got blonde hair and heterochromia. Your pretty hard to miss" Fran said still shaking his head

"Then...then I'll dye my hair brown! I'll dye my hair and I'll wear green contacts! Fran please just let me come with you!" Angel said, turning her body to look at him

"I want to help" Angel said softly, her eyes a silent plea as she looked at him

"Angel, it's a no" Fran said shaking his head "I'm not...I'm not putting you in that kind of danger" Fran said in a final sort of tone

"Fran, I can talk to the girls there...the girls there will know more than I do. They'll talk to me. Fran I can help more than any other police officer can" Angel said still a hint of determination in her eye "those girls counted on me. I already let them down once, not again" Angel said shaking his head

Fran sighed "Ange it's not worth hurting you.." he said softly

"Those girls were like family to me Fran...I need to go back, I need to see them, I need to protect them. Fran please" Angel said in almost a whisper

*flashback*

Angel was one of many girls in this place. It was one of Phoenix's 'show nights'

Him and his buddies would bring their 'girls' and it would basically be a club, a load of degrading and things of that nature.

A load of the other girls hated Angel. They saw the way she was treated and hated that they didn't get that treatment themselves. If only they knew...

Most girls would be shared between men, Angel was the only exception. Phoenix was stupidly possessive. He'd even been in fights because people would look at her the wrong way.

A load of other girls 'belonged to Phoenix' but he would share these ones.

Phoenix would always excuse him and Angel early, taking a few rounds with her.

And this one specific morning after one of these parties, Angel was extremely unwell. Nobody could understand why. (Maybe being like malnourished and sleep deprived idk?)

She was throwing up constantly. And so she had been forced to take a bunch of tests, not in the most healthy ways. And that's how they had found out she was pregnant.

It made Phoenix enraged. And after that he himself with his twisted experiments had aborted the baby...and that's how Angel, and the rest of the girls, had their ovaries slashed, loosing their chances to have children.

*end of flashback*

"I own them Fran" Angel whispered "please"
