"Damn it..." His father whispers under his breath as he turns the car key for what must've been the seventh time this minute. His eyes turned to his wife in the passenger seat, "We're out of gas. Do we have any more in the back?"His mom takes a while to step out of the car and check, but before long, they hear a loud "No" before his mom came back to the front, holding an empty gas container.
The man mumbled some words under his breath in thought before saying them out loud for his family to hear. "wasn't there a gas station a little ways back?" he suggested.
"Oh, yes! But we shouldn't just leave our car out here. It could be broken into!" The woman thought for a moment before looking at her son, "Tony, you need to watch the car."
His sapphire eyes look up from his phone for the first time in the whole ordeal. "I- what? Why do I have to stay in the creepy woods at 10pm, there could be a serial killer out there waiting to put me on the back of a milk carton!" Tony made a point to be dramatic, to which his mom rolled her eyes and grabbed her travel purse and the gas container.
"Sweetie, no one's out there. We will only be gone for a bit." She looked at her husband and handed him the container. "you have your energy drink we bought you at the last stop. You'll be fine."
They both ducked out of the car at around similar times, "We won't take long, love you!" She said as she closed the car door, leaving her son flabbergasted.
"Whoa, wait a second-" He was cut short by his dad silently shutting the other door shut as well. Afterward, he goes off to meet his wife at the back of the car.
"Does anyone listen anymore!?" The blond yells out as he watches his parents walk further and further down the side of the road.
He groans and turns around, shoving his headphones on his head before turning his music up.

The boy's gotten bored already. It hasn't been more than five minutes! He has just been staring out of the car windows the entire time. He can barely even see anything.
Wait. What was that?
Tony could've sworn he saw something, a shadow. He couldn't tell if it was human or not, but he did know that it was huge. Around his height even.
He silently pulled his hood up and tugged the strings till only a circle of his face was visible. He then proceeded to turn away from the woods and fall on his side, deeming it "self care."
BANG!
oh shit.
Yes, he can ignore a creepy shadow in creepy woods at a creepy hour but a gunshot? Hell no.
He carefully pulled his hood and headphones off of his cranium. Sitting up, he slowly rolled down his window about halfway.
Peeking his head out and around the opened window, he didn't see anything. He knew he would need to go outside to see further, but did it really matter that much, y'know, what if it was a hunter, hunting a bear! Bear's are bigger than the shadow you saw. God damnit.
Before he got ahead of himself, he looked around the car. Please, for the love of any divine being, let there be a weapon or something in this forsaken car! He crawled his way to the front seats, reaching for a small pocket where his dad sat.
Sticking his hand around in it, he felt something, something cold. Grabbing it, a pocket knife. Now, this is what I mentioned. Thank you. He flipped the pocket knife around for a few seconds before finally finding out how to open it.
