"You'd be okay with Corey coming here?" I ask, surprised that he's suggesting it despite their encounter earlier.

"For your safety, I don't mind," he says sternly.

As beautiful as his words sound, I can't let them get to me. After what I witnessed between them, I can't let Corey near him, especially after what he's been through. Even though he's worried about my safety as much as I am especially after that incident that happened earlier tonight, I don't think getting a ride is necessary. Our houses are not that far away from each other, I think I can make it back home safe and sound. Besides, Corey's car is unpredictable.

"I won't call him for the sake of peace, but, I'll get a ride," I say. "Are you happy now?"

He simply nods with a subtle pull of his lips into a tight-lipped smile.

Remembering that I left my phone on the kitchen counter, I turn around to go and get it, however, immediately I turn around, I see a spider on the floor. Scared, I quickly turn around in an attempt to get away from it, however, I end up bumping into Jayden who I didn't notice was right behind me.

"Where is-" before he can complete his sentence, we both fall to the floor; to be specific, I land on him.

Out of nowhere, time seems to stand still, as our eyes stay locked on each other. My heart is racing faster than a speeding bullet train, while his soft breath caresses my skin. His arms are wrapped around me but, I don't think his mind has registered that he's still holding me, and even though my mind is telling me to get up, my heart is telling me to stay still for a moment and bask in his embrace. Just one. More. Second.

Life as a college student has been nothing but smooth sailing for 23-year-old Aleesha, and now that she's graduated, her life is about to take a different path.
