Kenta's POV
After Kim retreated to his room, I took a moment to check out my new surroundings. The spare room was simple and clean.
I couldn't stop thinking about how he had pressed me against the wall, I understood his distrust but I knew Tony better than anyone and I refused to let him hurt anyone else.
Beneath the hostility Kim was giving me, there was something else-a connection.
I knew the chances of getting any sleep tonight were slim. I spent the night staring at the ceiling.
I had heard the exact moment Kim woke up. I was a very observant person due to all the years spent with Tony.
Kim left early in the morning. I knew exactly where he was heading. As soon as I heard the door shut, I hopped out of bed and followed him to the gym.
I'd been watching the X- Hunter team for a while now, but somehow my focus always shifted to Kim. He wasn't like the rest of them-maybe because he hadn't been with them as long. There was a dark, quiet side to him that I felt a strange connection to.
I watched his car pull into the gym parking lot.
I parked a few spots away and watched for a moment before getting out of the car. I saw Kim walk into the gym. After a few minutes , I followed him inside.
I found a spot near the entrance, trying to blend into the background. Kim was already at the punching bag, throwing punches with a kind of fierce precision. I stood there, watching him work out. Each punch seemed to be an outlet for more than just physical stress-there was something deeper in his movements.
The rhythm of his strikes was almost mesmerizing. I could tell he was working through something heavy, I couldn't tear my eyes away from him. The way his body moved, the sweat dripping off of him. It was like watching him fight his own shadows, and I felt a strange connection to him.
As if sensing my presence, Kim suddenly spun around and locked eyes with me. There was no point in hiding from my new coworker and roommate, so I pushed off the wall and walked toward him.
"What, did you follow me here?" Kim asked, his voice a mix of irritation and surprise.
"What can I say? I wanted to join my new roommate for a workout," I said, trying to sound casual. I wasn't usually the type for casual talk, but with Kim, it felt different. I felt like a different person around him. Plus, if I was going to stay with the X-Hunter team, I needed him to trust me.
"Work out, huh?" Kim said, a hint of a smirk playing at his lips. "Then I guess you wouldn't mind joining me for a fight?"
"I would be honored." I state
We began and he quickly charged at me. I barely dodged his first swing, feeling the air rush past my face. I countered with a swift kick, aiming for his side. Kim blocked it with a quick shift, and started a back in forth match.
He charged at me, catching me off guard. He grabbed my arm and twisted, using his momentum to pin my arm in place. I gritted my teeth, struggling to break free.
Our faces were inches apart, and I could feel the heat of his breath mingling with mine. With a quick shift of his weight, Kim forced me down, our bodies slamming into the mat. I managed to roll us over, shifting the pressure, but Kim quickly pushed against me, forcing me down again, our limbs tangled in a struggle.
I twisted, managing to get my knee between us. I pushed off, sending Kim back. We both scrambled up, sweat all over our faces.
Kim's eyes never left mine, and there was something raw in his gaze-a mix of challenge and something unspoken. I grabbed him by the shoulders and threw him down, he bounce back toward me using a move straight out of a movie. He came at me again, a powerful swing aimed at my side. I blocked it, our bodies crashing together in another tight embrace.
The struggle continued, neither of us willing to give an inch. We rolled and twisted on the mat, each move a mix of strategy and raw force. The tension was electric, each hit and pin filled with tension.
Finally, I managed to pin Kim down, my weight pressing him into the mat. We both lay there, breathless and tangled, our faces inches apart. Kim's breathing was heavy, and his eyes locked onto mine. My eyes pan down to his lips and at this moment I wanted nothing more to close the distance between us and kiss him with the same fierceness as our fight.
I fought this urge and we slowly untangled ourselves, the tension in the air strong.
