Dr. Wen noticed that Shen Shuyun wasn't joking at all, and his expression gradually became serious. He looked at Shen Shuyun and said in a stern tone, "Mr. Shen, have you really thought this through? Gland removal is not a minor surgery. The glands are a significant organ for an omega, and removing them is as serious as removing a kidney. In past cases, some omegas have died on the operating table or from post-operative complications. Although these are rare cases, the risks do exist. With the current advancements in omega mark removal technology, if you're only separating from your alpha, there's really no need for gland removal surgery."
Shen Shuyun listened to the doctor's words this time but still shook his head. "I want to have my glands removed."
Dr. Wen wanted to say more, but when his gaze fell on the glands at the back of Shen Shuyun's neck, he paused. The glands bore half a bite mark and were slightly bruised, indicating that the omega's alpha had not been gentle during marking.
"Alright," Dr. Wen's experience told him not to ask too much further, lest he evoke painful memories for the omega in front of him. "However, before undergoing gland removal surgery, you need to have a comprehensive physical examination to ensure you don't have any hidden diseases."
Shen Shuyun finally showed a polite smile. He stood up, lightly pressed his pale, chapped lips together, and asked softly, "Where do I get the examination?"
"I'll have someone take you there," Dr. Wen returned to his computer and typed a few times on the keyboard. "Just follow her."
The door opened, and a female nurse standing outside said to Shen Shuyun, "Please follow me."
Shen Shuyun was taken for a full-body examination and had a tube of blood drawn. The nurse told him, "Please come back tomorrow morning. Some of the test results won't come out on the same day
"Alright," Shen Shuyun nodded, not in a rush, "I'll come back tomorrow morning."
The next morning, Shen Shuyun deliberately skipped breakfast and drove his Audi to the hospital at eight o'clock.
He arrived at half-past eight, took the elevator to the third floor, and headed straight for Dr. Wen's office.
There were no patients at the moment, so Shen Shuyun went directly into Dr. Wen's office. Dr. Wen seemed to be waiting for him and stood up as soon as he entered, staring intently at him. "You finally came."
Shen Shuyun felt a bit strange. "What?"
"Mr. Shen, you can't have the gland removal surgery, or even the mark removal surgery," Dr. Wen sighed and handed Shen Shuyun a physical examination report. "Because you're pregnant, ten weeks along."
Shen Shuyun felt a splitting headache. He looked at the paper through the thin daylight and felt like every word was a crawling ant. Grasping the paper like it was his last straw, he asked, "Doctor, could there be a mistake? I didn't take any precautions during my heat for three years and never got pregnant. How could it happen now?"
Dr. Wen looked at him sympathetically, softening his tone. "The test is not wrong, Mr. Shen. If you still insist on having the gland removal surgery, you would need to undergo an abortion first... Both of these surgeries alone are very harmful to your body. As a doctor, I advise you not to put yourself through this; otherwise, you might suffer from lifelong complications."
Shen Shuyun slowly placed his hand on his still-flat belly, where a tiny life was indeed growing.
Why now, of all times?
A deep pain surfaced in Shen Shuyun's heart as he lowered his gaze, speaking softly to the child inside him.
You've come so late, your other dad won't be expecting you anymore. From now on, it's just me.
