When you were 14 years old,
friendship between the three of you became stronger and unbreakable. You, sae and rin would be inseparable, and would journey off all together. today, it was valentines, you'd received a large sum of chocolates, all from the same boy (they were probably meant to share with his class, but nevertheless he gave them to you,) but you felt disappointed as they were not from sae. during lunch hour, the boy used the free play opportunity to approach you and confess his "undying love" in front of many at the playground, and sae would be there to witness the confession.
you politely excused yourself, saying that you would need a few days to think it over, but his confidence and persistence remained undying. its then when sae intervenes, telling the boy that he's "being too pushy," and to "take no as an answer," however, the boy instead corrected sae, saying that you hadn't even said no yet.
without arguing any longer, sae grabs your hand and carries you around the rear of the school to another location. after moving the two of you to the swing set, sae stops swinging and asks whether you really are going to accept the boys confession. he cuts you off before you can say anything, saying, "don't go out with him." Puzzled, all that remains to pique your curiosity is the inquiry "why not?" which you then ask out loud.
"please let me be your boyfriend. i'll buy you chocolates if you want," is all that sae says in response.

time passes, a year to be precise, when it's time that sae has been scouted to go play soccer professionally, leaving both you, and rin behind. the two of you meet at the swings where everything started, as he leaves a kiss on your cheek as you prepared to part ways. this form of intimacy was beyond what the two of you had done, which was mostly holding hands.
you say your goodbyes, and you watch saes back as he turns to leave to start a new chapter in his life. smiling to yourself, you think about all of the times you've shared together, and think about all of the future encounters with sae you'll have again, especially about how your relationship will grow.
