Hiding in the Dark

"Come on, let's go drinking tonight!"

"Casey for the thousandth time, I have to be up early tomorrow. You know that already, I have work."
"Yeah yeah, whatever. Why do you have to be so boring?"

"I'm not, I just have bills to pay Casey, not everybody has mommy and daddy to take care of their stuff for them."

"You're just boring, it's okay. I get it." The things this girl will do to get me to go out with her.

"Fine, but only for an hour." Her eyes lit up as she jumped up and down excitedly.

Later on that evening, I found out where we were going. The Castons house, the house down the street from mine known for the monstrosity that lives inside. The family that lived there years ago from what I heard were into demons and making deals with the devil. That's how they all ended up dead. It was all over the news for months after about the graphic details that were done to that family. The cops themselves that showed up to that crime scene refuse to talk about the things they saw but you know how writers are nowadays. Always curious. Crawling in through the fence that was put up my stomach started to hurt. Continuing to get worse as we got closer to the house that was torn to shreds on the outside, I could only imagine what the inside looked like.

"Casey, I don't know if we should be doing this, something doesn't feel right."

"Don't be such a buzzkill, you said we could drink for an hour."

"If I had known where we were coming I wouldn't have agreed to come with you."

"Seriously? Why do you have to be like that? Just have some fun for once."

"Fine, whatever."

Walking through the front door, you could tell something wasn't right, but nothing was ever right in this house, especially with the family beforehand. Casey walked off without me and into the living room, I think? I couldn't tell the house was worse on the inside than the outside. That's when it all began, my bones aching, my eyes tearing up, my teeth changing the ache continuing to get worse as I shifted. I jump to the wall and blend in with the darkness.

"Layla?" I crawl to the same room as Casey and see her grow concerned.
"Layla, where are you? I can't believe she did this, she seriously just left me here." I crawl down and drop to the floor right behind her. She froze and made no effort to move whatsoever.

"Layla? Please let this be a joke. I know you're just trying to scare me." I could hear her heart rate speed up as I got closer to her and her pitch got higher.

"Run" She took off down the side and I followed her taking off down the hallway. Her heart was racing, sweat was pouring down her face as she continued running down the hallway that lead to nowhere. My teeth were sharper than any knife you've probably ever seen, my eyes whiter than the snow that fell in December. I loved the hunt, I craved it. There was always something in me that loved the adrenaline that came from chasing my prey. Casey wanted to come to this abandoned house to drink and yet it was so easy for her to fall for the trap. I mean it was her idea after all.

"LAYLA! HELP ME PLEASE!"

I laughed as she called for me to save her as if I wasn't the one chasing her. Endless doors and one after the other all being locked with no opportunity for her to escape at all, my idea of course. These wooden floors were busted and broken, her mind was so focused on just getting out of here she didn't see the big hole in the floor, seconds later landing on her back with her breath taken from her. That's when I stopped and jumped down hovering right over Casey, screeching like nothing she'd ever heard. I could see the blood dripping down Casey's ears. Her eyes widened as I got closer I could feel the fear radiating from her body and it was exhilarating. That's when I went in, sliced her neck and fed on her as if I'd never eaten before. I could hear her choking on her own blood, squirming and then nothing. When all was said and done, I shifted back and ran out of the house screaming, crying, yelling.

"PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!" Doing the same as Casey had done for me. The lights in the neighborhood continue to come on and one by one people came out of the house curious. Frightened when they saw I was covered in blood. A stranger came to me.
"What happened? Why are you covered in blood?"

"My-my friend Casey, something attacked her and she's dead. Please you have to help me, I don't want to die!" The stranger comforted me as the police then showed up and their faces changed as they realized what had happened. As they go in and see the damage done the smirk crawls across my face realizing they'll never figure out what really happened here tonight.
