I grab Ava's wrist. The bones are delicate, her skin smooth and alive with a heat that draws me in.

"One day we're going to finish what we started, baby." And I'm not really sure if it's a promise or a warning.

"You should remind me," she starts, yanking her arm away from my hold. "of what it is we need to finish."

I hiss a breath.

If it wasn't for that fucker Kwon, I would've stayed here.
Here with Ava.
With my little deer.

I don't know how we ended up in my apartment. I don't even know how we ended up kissing like that.

But it felt so good.
So, so, delicious. I want more.
Ava Lee has no idea how long I've waited for this.

Fuck you Kwon.

"I need to go, we'll talk once I'm back." I put a shirt on and grab my gun.

"You're going?" Fuck. I didn't want to. But Jeonghan needs me on location.

"I'll be back." I say, running my fingers through my trousled, messy hair.
"No, let me go."

"Go where?"
"Let me go home, Seungcheol."
I chuckle. God fucking gracious, she's adorable.

"Why should I? You're in my house."
Do you know how long I waited to have you here? Do you think I might let you go this easily?

I think the fuck not.
"You dragged me here. Some might say kidnapped." She crosses her arms, and a cute frown takes over her features."Let me go, Seungcheol."

"No way, little deer. You're staying here." I lean in, and press my lips onto her forehead. "At least until I come back."

"You're an asshole." I know.
But that's not something I can control, not anymore.

She glares, and then surprise hits her face as the glare fades. "You're not going to tell Jeonghan about me?"

I almost laugh.
Instead, I shrug. "Don't really need to, do I? I already got what I want."

But that's not true. I can admit I want her. All of her. It doesn't matter if I might have to destroy her, I want everything she has.

"Besides, where's the fun in letting Jeonghan punish you? I'd rather do it myself."

I could take her instead of punishment. That works. But she'll need to give herself freely.

What will it take for her to let me in? To let me do her like I want?

"That's a fucking lie—"

The private elevator that leads to the exit dings. It blends with the wall and Ava gasps as it opens on the far side of the living room.

"That's my sign to go." I give her a wink followed by a quick peck on the lips before I disappear inside.

I pull up Mingyu's number and hit call, frustration clawing at me. "It's a no-go."

"Fuck."

I knew Mingyu was the right choice for this mission over Kwon.

I'd warned Jeonghan, but as usual, he had a selective hearing problem.

Just because I despise Kwon doesn't mean I'd let personal feelings compromise our business. But Kwon's an idiot who's as reckless as he is arrogant.

Now he's turned a simple operation into a disaster.

"I had to kill him myself, Andrei Romano." I tell Mingyu, as Hao speeds the car towards Jeonghan's mansion.

"What happened?" Mingyu mutters, the frustration clear in his voice.

"Kwon fucked up and tipped them off about our location."

Mingyu's silence is heavy.
I can almost hear him sigh through the phone, followed by the creak of his office chair-his personal, squeaky throne of exasperation.

"Kwon led them straight to the shipment. Twelve men dead, and they've stolen the entire stock of guns. He was an idiot to go straight to the location after a fight."

The enemies—Kozlov's men—had laid in wait, tracking Kwon to our shipment, and now they're sitting pretty with our arsenal.

It's a mess we need to clean up, and fast.

"Stay calm. I'll be there in ten," Mingyu says, his voice strained but resolute.
He hangs up before I can reply.

Killing more of Kozlov's men won't help our situation.

And getting myself killed?
Not an option. I'm too valuable alive, despite the mess I'm in.

I stare out the window as Hao maneuvers through the labyrinth of city streets, my thoughts a chaotic swirl.

Kwon's mistake was inexcusable, and now the fallout is about to hit hard.

We pull up to Jeonghan's mansion, and I step out, the cold night air biting at my face.

I straighten my jacket and steel myself for the confrontation ahead.

Inside, the atmosphere is thick with tension.
Jeonghan's men move with purpose, their faces etched with concern. They're waiting for the inevitable storm.

I enter Jeonghan's office.
He's seated behind his imposing desk, eyes steely and unreadable.

Mingyu stands nearby, arms crossed, his face a mask of frustration and anger.

"Seungcheol," Jeonghan's voice cuts through the silence, calm yet laced with menace. "Sit."

I take a deep breath and sit down. Jeonghan's expression grows darker with each second.

"So, Kwon's incompetence has cost us twelve men and an entire shipment of guns," Jeonghan says, leaning back in his chair, eyes narrowing.

"I told you," I respond, meeting his gaze directly. "He isn't fit for the job."

Jeonghan's face hardens. "We need to strike back. We can't allow Kozlov to think he can just walk away with our stock."

Mingyu steps forward. "I've got teams already tracking them. We'll get our guns back and make sure they understand the consequences."

"Good," Jeonghan says, his tone brooking no argument.
"Seungcheol, you're in charge of this operation now. See it through."

"Understood," I say, turning on my heel.

As I head for the door, my mind drifts back to Ava.

The chaotic swirl of my thoughts and the weight of this mission pale in comparison to the thoughts I have about her.

I need to finish this shit as soon as I could.

I need to get back to Ava.
Fuck. I'm just so fucking obsessed with her.
I need to see her again.
