before it all

(Alexa's pov)

I sat at my window kneeling on the floor with my arms atop the windowsill as I watched the rain tink against the window, making a calming rhythm with each and every rain drop from the sky the sound making it hard not to fall asleep, I watched the rain drops run down the window as if they are racing each other some combine and get a speed boost or they slow down and lose, it may sound weird to watch the rain but I personally find it soothing, I close my eyes sitting in silence between the sounds of rain, wind, the buzzing of the quiet house from the fridge, and the soft humming of my beating heart and breathing, it's all still till there's a buzz that seems loud overcoming the loud silence. I open my eyes, twisting my head to the sound of the buzz. I look just in time to see my phone's screen light fade, ~a text!~ my mind comes back into the mess it is from the peaceful stillness of the atmosphere.

I stand up, my legs aching from sitting so long on the ground with an indentation of the ground on them, I stretch my arms above my head before completely relaxing again and walking over to my bed where my phone lays, going off with another buzz the screen lights for a second or two before fading again I plop down onto my bed the phone lifting and falling as I do so, I pick up my phone and turn it on there's a notification, ~a text from max~ oh right max- max is a friend of mine who lives close by and it's been a year of being friends with him I've had a crush on him once although i got to know him to find out he never plains or will fall in love any time soon not only that I've grown to like him as a brother or best friend.

I looked down at my phone, realizing I should probably see what's going on instead of getting lost in thought. i quickly unlocked my phone and pulled up messages looking down at the screen

'Hey Alexa, are you available? Me and Milly were just wondering if you wanted to go to her house or something.' I look outside the rain slowly stopping. ~well, I guess it doesn't matter anyways~ I look down and begin to type,'Of course I'll go!' I waited and watched to see if I was too late to text back before the phone buzzed 'ok then see you there we just finished a movie but you can watch the next movie if you get over here!' I laugh to myself before standing up and heading to the door, not before I put on my shoes, hoodie, and brush my hair. I pick up my phone, stuff it into my pocket, heading to the door. The house is quiet due to my parents being out on a trip without me, but what does that matter? I get to hang out with my friends! I open the door, stepping outside and turning around, slamming the door shut, walking over to where my bike is. I hop onto my bike and begin to ride to their house. I watch my surroundings as I ride through the neighborhood so as not to ride into the road or something dumb like that. The water from the rain splashes against the tires, some water hitting my shoes and pants ~oh well~ I think to myself as I ride to milly's home I look up at the sky the gray clouds wither into the sky as they are replaced with white fluffy clouds the sun beginning to peek over them

Soon, I arrived at milly's house. I stopped and pulled my bike to the side of the house before walking to the door and raising my hand to the door. As soon as I left the first knock, there was a shuffling from inside till the door swung open and milly pulled me inside, shutting the door "your here!" She looks at me. I smile and nod before she speaks again. "I thought you would ditch us because of the rain," I look down for a second "Yeah well I can't miss hanging out it's been boring you know I have nothing to do so why not and plus I don't mind the rain" she slowly nods her head "ok well let's go," she begins walking to the living room dragging me along "ok so we were think we should watch a horror movie before bed" she laughs "one of us will have a nightmare I know that" she nods her head to max who's laying back against the couch "I heard that.." He rolls his eyes, looking over at us "Hey Alexa," he smiles. I wave slightly before getting pushed by Milly. "Sit down! Come on, I can't wait any longer to watch this movie, " she complained as she pushed me onto the couch I sat up on, staring at her "whatever" I looked up to the tv. Milly sits next to me, and Max, milly picks up the remote and holds it up to the tv, clicking the play button. The movie seems to be about a werewolf who kills for fun or something. About 35 minutes in, I feel my eyes getting heavy with sleep. I lean back against the couch, and yawn, I look over to see Max already asleep and milly invested in the movie to notice anything else.

After a while, the show randomly stops, and milly leans back. "noooo! It was just getting to the best part, " she complained. The tv stayed like that for a moment before a loud Erie sound rang out from the tv. Max opens his eyes upon the loud sound. It rang out 3 times before that robotic voice came on the warning popping up on screen milly, max, and I sat there before milly blurts out, "This is a part of the movie, right?"
