Isabella has no sense of time in her room. She can see when the sun rises and sets, but there's no clock to be found anywhere. She also has no phone, laptop, or television. She’s completely cut off from the world around her.

Last night, after Sofia brought her some food, she went to sleep. Now, she’s just woken up by the sun’s rays shining on her face through the windows. Outside, the birds are singing cheerfully. The world goes on, but for Isabella, it feels like hers has stopped.

She decides to take a refreshing shower. She has to admit, for someone who’s been kidnapped, she could have it worse. She has the freedom to shower, and she has a wonderfully large bed. But despite that, she wants nothing more than to escape. Who knows what Alessandro is capable of?

After showering, she wraps a towel around herself and walks to her bedroom. She stands by the window and enjoys the sun's rays on her face.

Isabella turns around in shock when she hears the key in the lock. The door opens with a soft creak. Alessandro comes in. Isabella tries to stay as far away from him as possible.
“Buongiorno principessa,” Alessandro says as he walks to the chair in the room and sits down broadly. With his hands under his chin, he looks intently at Isabella. Isabella feels uncomfortable and doesn’t know how to act.

Just when Alessandro is about to say something, there’s a knock on the door.
“Boss, one of our men has been taken. We need you.”
“Fuck! I’m on my way, James.”

Alessandro quickly walks over to Isabella. He reaches out his hand to her cheek, and Isabella flinches, expecting a slap.
“Sssst,” Alessandro soothes, and he strokes her cheek with his hand. “Don’t try to escape while I’m gone, my principessa. Behave yourself.”
Isabella nods.

Alessandro has been gone for two days now. She finds it nice that he’s away. Now, she doesn’t have to fear that he’ll do something to her. However, the house is even quieter now. Luckily, Sofia occasionally keeps her company and provides her with food. Time creeps by. Fortunately, Sofia has lent her a few books to read.

When Isabella wakes up the next morning again from the sun on her face, she sees a figure sitting in the chair. She is startled. It’s just like the first morning she woke up here.
-“Good morning, beautiful. I could watch you sleep for hours.”
Isabella doesn’t know how to act again. She feels uncomfortable when he talks to her like that.
-“Tell me about yourself, principessa. What are your hobbies? What do you like? What don’t you like? I want to know everything about you,” Alessandro says as he looks at her attentively.

Isabella wonders if she should tell him everything. But if he’s really with the mafia, he’ll find out anyway. She decides to answer him politely and honestly. That’s probably the best approach.
-“I, I love small, simple things,” she says softly and shyly while still sitting on the bed under her blankets.
-“I love the morning sunbeams. The sunset. The flowers in bloom. I love sitting by a fireplace in autumn when it’s raining outside. I love long walks in nature. I love animals, my job, and my friends...” Without realizing it, she rambles on. The more she thinks about the things she loves, the more she begins to glow. Isabella momentarily forgets that she’s in a room with her kidnapper, a mafia boss.

-“Even inside, you’re beautiful. Just as I thought,” Alessandro interrupts her as she talks with sparkling eyes about everything she loves. Isabella gives him a small smile.

-“And your parents?” he suddenly asks.
She’s startled by his question, and Alessandro notices. The soft look in his eyes quickly changes to a surprised look, and he raises an eyebrow.
-“They, uhmmm,” Isabella stammers. -“My mother passed away, and I don’t see my father anymore.” The sparkle in her eyes disappears.
-“I’m sorry for you,” Alessandro says. -“Why don’t you see your father anymore?”
-“We didn’t have a good relationship.”
Isabella tries to move on quickly. She never talks about her parents, especially not about her father. She doesn’t want to be reminded of her childhood with him.
-“I also love the smell of clean laundry on the line on a sunny spring day, and I love having breakfast in the garden!”
