"Hey, hey! Hey, JJ. Wait up!" yelled Alexis.
"Sure. What's up?" JJ asked/
" I just saw the cutest guy ever!" squealed Alexis.
"Where? Who? How?" exclaimed JJ.
"OKay, so I was walking down by C-Hall, you know? And there was just this guy walking by with his who I think heard call him Gabe."
"Oh. Did, uh Gabe have flippy brown hair and was kinda tall?"
"Yes! He was so hot! Do you know him?" Alexis asked.
"Yeah. HIs name's Gabe Rold. I've known him since 4th grade."
"Cool! So can you hook me up?'
"Urm, he's in 7th grade."
"So?"
"Alexis, you're in 8th grade. Do you think that would be awkward?"
"No! Not if he's a total hotty!
"Okay, I'll talk to him."
"Great! See you next period!"
The girls went to their 4th period class and met back up in jounalism.'
"So, how'd it go?" asked Alexis.
"Uh, he thinks that's a little creepy," replied JJ.
"Wh-aa-t?" stammered Alexis.
"Well he won't when he meets me," she spoke again, gaining back her confidence.
"Yeah totally," JJ said.
"Who's this Gabe you're talking about?" asked Rachelle, coming into the conversation.
"Oh! Gabe? Gabe Rold?" Carmen asked.
"Oh yeah, I think I know him," Evelyn said. " Is her in our math class?"
"Mhmm," JJ said.
"Wait! Who's Gabe?" asked Lydia.
"Okay! Gabe Rold is a 7th grader who Alexis thinks is hot and wants to date," replied Jessie.
"Ohh!" said Rachelle and Lydia.
"Yeah," Alexis said. "And it's not creepy because he will like me back! He will!" And she started thinking about how that would happen. She would make him like her though!
And she would. Over the next couple of days, Alexis figured out where Gabe's locker was, what his schedule was, who he hung out with, and what his like/dislikes were. JJ was her messenger. Alexis would come up with messages and JJ would repeat them to Gabe. Usually they were something like "Hey! I'll see you at your locker! xo Alexis" because she met him at his locker at each period to walk him to his classes. . Or they could be "Meet me in the library after school! See you there! Alexis" if Alexis couldn't go to his locker. Both messages were never returned, and often, when Alexis showed up at Gabe's locker with a smile on her face, she got a glare in return. And the latter message definitely got no response, which made Alexis a little discouraged.
But no worries. She had Evelyn and Carmen helping her too. They would talk about Alexis around Gabe. On one particular day, they thought he was starting to fall for her, so they reported back in journalism.
"OK! So we were talking to Gabe about, uh, swimming, and we mentioned you and he said "Mhm!" Carmen yelled excitedly.
'Yeah," piped in Evelyn. " He usually just ignores us1
'Yay!" screamed Alexis. "I have to step it up to make sure he really does like me!'
So the next day, she wore her lowest low-cut shirt(which was also see through, revealing her bra), and her shortest skirt. She didn't see Gabe till the end of the day though.
"Hey Gabe!" she said, popping up from below his locker. Gabe was about to groan when he noticed Alexis's eyes. They were like chocolate, and he loved chocolate. He had also found her notions annoying, until now. Suddenly, he thought they were sweet. But he couldn't think these thoughts. He had already asked out Lindsey! Her really wanted to tell Alexis what he thought but instead he said
"Uh, hey Alexis."
"So, I was thinking we could see a movie this weekend," said Alexis.
Gabe really wanted to say yes. I mean, Lindsey will never find out, right? he thought. So he said it.
"Sure."
"Great! I'll see you Saturday at 7! Bye!" she yelled as she skipped away, overjoyed by her weekend plans.
Gabe chuckled at her everlasting energy. He knew he had made the right choice. Alexis was pretty, funny, and way more positive than Lindsey could ever be. He would break up with her negativness tomorrow. Alexis was worth it.
*****************
It was 7:15 at the Regal Cinema 16, and Alexis was still waiting for Gabe. Where is he? she wondered. She kept shuffling her feet and freaking herself out that Gabe wouldn't show up. Alexis was near tears when he finally made his appearance around 7:25.
"There you are! I was worried you wouldn't come!" she said, pulling him into a hug. Gabe tensed up, but relaxed when he saw Lindsey wasn't around and when he felt that Alexis's body clicked into his.
"Yeah, sorry," he said. "Don't ask me how, but my mom got lost."
Alexis laughed. "Okay, well you're here now so let's go watch the movie."
They purchased their tickets and some popcorn, and snuggled into their seats together to watch the movie. At one point, their hands touched in the popcorn. Neither made any effort to pull away and so the remained like that for the rest of the time. It was a perfect date for them both, until they ran into Lindsey.
"GABE!" shrieked Lindsey. "What are you doing with, with... her?! I thought we were dating!"
"Hey!" Alexis shouted. "News flash! You're not! Gabe's mine!"
"Yeah, about that," Gabe was saying to Lindsey when she launched herself at Alexis.
"Ahh!" Alexis shouted. "Get off me, you freak!"
"Not till you get off MY boyfriend!" Lindsey shouted back, her claws at the ready.
"Lindsey!" Gabe yelled. "Stop!" She reluctantly pulled herself off Alexis and targeted her anger at Gabe instead.
"You jerk!" exclaimed Lindsey.
"Oh, he's the jerk?" Alexis questioned. "He's not the one that just mauled a girl!"
"Yeah," Gabe said. "Now I'm extra glad I'm breaking up with you."
"You're what?" Lindsey stuttered.
"You heard me," and with that, he turned around and planted a kiss on Alexis. Their lips locked for a long while before and usher told them to get out. Even after that rude interrupting, Alexis and Gabe still knew they would share many more kisses together.
