Hanni can't deny that the alphas that have come over in the past two hours have been charming, but none of them caught her attention like the one at the end of the bar. Unfortunately, she seems more engrossed in her novel than omega scent.

"I know Agatha Christie is damn near the best, but you're starting to look like a kid in a candy store."

The captivating alpha looks up and blinks at Hanni, neither startled nor upset. She sets her copy of Dumb Witness down.

"Have you read it?"

Hanni shrugs, playing with the red straw in her near-empty cocktail. "Must have in high-school. It wasn't really my favorite genre. There's a dog in this one, right?"

The mystery reader nods. "He's pretty important."

"Of course he is." Hanni smiles before extending her hand. "I'm Hanni."

"Minji."

Minji's hand is as smooth as Hanni expected, but her handshake is definitely on the gentler side. It's sweet, though not particularly alpha. For a moment, Hanni wonders if her cocktail has messed with her senses.

"Do you often choose luxury hotel bars to read detective novels, Minji?"

"I like the atmosphere. It's perfect."

"Good point."

"I've never seen you here before," Minji says, eyes darting south of Hanni's eyes for just a second.

"Isn't that the point of hotels? You never bump into the same stranger twice?"

"I suppose it'd depend how long you stay."

"Well, I'm here for the weekend."

Hanni watches as Minji swallows, nodding slowly. "That's ah... I hear they have good room service."

"Don't tell me you actually are just here for the atmosphere..." Hanni enquires, amused.

"I guess you could say that."

Hanni chuckles before finishing up the last sip of her cocktail. "And here I thought Kim Hotels promised top-notch security."

Hanni detects the shadow of a smile on Minji, gone quickly but unmistakable. "Some avid book readers just keep finding their way in, it seems."

"Well..." Hanni hunches forward, a thrill coursing through her when Minji glances at her lips again. "I could make sure you don't get caught tonight, if you're worried at all."

Minji shifts in her seat. "As opposed to spending my night with a novel I've read twice?"

"Something like that."

They share another smile, one that allows Hanni to see Minji's gorgeous eyes light up.

"I don't usually do this, you know."

"No?" Minji asks.

"Not really in my place and all that."

Minji nods in understanding. It's not often that an omega would approach an alpha so blatantly, though the past twenty years have been progressive in terms of omega empowerment.

"You seem to enjoy it."

"What's a girl to do when the object of her attraction is more interested in her book?"

Minji chuckles. "I wouldn't say more. You seemed to be busy with a few offers."

Hanni grimaces. "What I get for wearing red and forgetting my perfume back home."
