Reyna, the only child of the king of Azarthis, has her world plunged right before her eyes, their kingdom is taken over and her parents dethroned, all hope is lost as she lets the hopelessness consume her, that is until she learns a shocking truth...
Just my luck, a grin crept onto my lips as a guard parked a spinner not far from where I was, they are awesome, father never let me ride one because it's apparently dangerous. I waited till he was out of sight before hopping in, it was more difficult to maneuver than a hydra but I'm a fish folk, I'm one with the water and I've ridden them behind his back so many times, I have Dro to thank for that. It's so fast you could miss it, I steered it towards the gate, hoping the guards don't stop me, I reach the gate in no time but there was no one around.

My brows furrow as I spot no one, 'could it be because of the army the queen sent'? I wondered. That should be the only logical reason, I decided to worry about that later focusing on the reason I'm here in the first place. I steer the spinner, heading East after crossing the wall, it was a bit different from the ones we own.
I launch myself out as I arrive at the place, 'Zaria' I yell, swimming as quickly as I could towards her, a big smile crossed my face as I sighted her rushing towards me as well. I embrace her tightly, hating myself for leaving her alone, she curled herself around me, 'I'm glad you're ok, I was so worried' I mumble. 'We did it, everything will be fine, the queen agreed to help but I have to stay at the castle until the soldiers return', I groan, not wanting to leave her again.
I took the bottle from the hydra, embracing Zaria one more time before getting in to head back. I head back to the garden, leaving it where I saw it, feeling extremely accomplished I pulled that off without getting caught. I head into the castle, the guards at the front were missing, also the ones that patrol the halls, I ignore that fact heading to my temporary room, my guards were missing as well, ' this just makes it easier to not get caught' I thought as I go in preparing myself to sleep.
A knock on my door causes me to jolt awake, a maid walks in holding garments for me to change into, 'the queen awaits you your royal highness' she bows, taking her leave. 'Did she find out I snuck out yesterday'? I wonder. One of the guards escorts me, the queen was sitting at her usual spot, she got up as I walked in, 'please have a seat princess' she gestures, bowing her head slightly', a guest will be joining us' she adds. 'Guest'? I question furrowing my brows.
'If you'll excuse me, I'll be right back', she says as she exits the room. I was lost in thought wondering who this guest was and why I have to meet them. A sharp pain distracts me as I notice a light scar appearing on my arm, I lightly trace it, wondering what happened to my soulmate, it's been a while since he last earned himself a scar. I sigh, grabbing my hayaat to finally take a sip, I just need few drops to feel good again. I raise it to my mouth, listening for anyone's presence, no one knows about it and I intend to keep it that way. I was about to put it away before a familiar presence left me motionless.
I was frozen in place, my hands trembling as it got closer, there was no mistaking that aura. The doors open, multiple figures heading in.
'Princess, it's an honour to meet you in person, finally, I have to admit, I'm impressed'. I turn to face the owner of the voice, as I sensed, it was a mermaid, he didn't look familiar, I didn't see him on the day, but there he stood like he owned the world, a stupid grin on his face. 'Why are mermaids here? He wasn't alone, there was another male beside him along with about 10 other mermaids, what's going on'? My head was rushing with thoughts, those facial features look familiar, I look towards the queen, hoping this isn't what it seems. She gives me a stoic face in return.
'Pardon me, where are my manners? I'm Haison Chayon and this is my brother, Leo'. That information suffocates me, my eyes widen in shock and disbelief, I didn't know he had a child let alone two! I lose my grip on the bottle, it starts to sink before I quickly snatch it, trying to hide it, the queen raises her brows in question while Haison stares in wonder.
'Is that hayaat? He questions, 'how do you know'? I snap at him, getting aggravated at the situation. 'Reyna is it? I ask the questions here darling, but I'll answer you, we were once allies, we know things even you don't know about yourselves. I'd love to see what it does, he says eyeing it, 'over my dead body, I state, clutching it to myself.
'Hand it over princess', the other mermaids aim their weapons towards me at his statement, he reaches his arm forward, I may not know much about it but I do know it should never fall into the wrong hands. 'How could you? my voice breaks, not able to deal with this betrayal, you're siding with them? YOU LIED TO ME! I scream at her, there was no army was there? Where were the soldiers then?
'My loyalty goes to the throne, not your father, its over for your people, you've always been arrogant and entitled, its time someone put you in your place, I won't drag my people down with yours' She finishes with a scorn. My eyes tear up and for the first time, I'm glad the water camouflages it.
'Good always prevails evil, don't forget this princess' He speaks up. 'What do you know about being good? You've caused nothing but chaos with your presence in these waters and I swear to everything mighty if you harm my parents in any way, I WILL end your race'. I sputter, disdain seeping in my tone as I stared them down. He looked taken aback at my harshness but he was quick to mask it.
'Hand over the hayaat and surrender princess, I'll only say it once' he orders. 'If you know anything about us you'd know I don't take orders, I open the bottle, downing its content in one go, no one has ever had that much at a time, but I'd rather put myself at risk than let him have it. My father made it very clear how important it was to keep it from anyone. I toss the empty bottle at him, 'you can have that', I smirk. He was furious as he lunges at me, I easily dodge him but someone grabs my arm, I turn to face his brother whose name I didn't bother to remember, I swing at him trying to free myself, but I miss, his grip not budging, another mermaid grabs my other arm, I was now restrained by both men, as I was struggling, my heart stops, sending me into a cardiac arrest, it picks up again, beating much faster than it normally did.
I yell in pain as my heart beats at a rate I didn't know was possible, my ears were ringing loudly, I struggle against their hold, a loud ringing in my head, it felt as though my head was being repeatedly slammed against a rock, my vision started to falter as I blinked rapidly, seeing shadows around me. My body was heating up quite fast, they hastily let go of me, moving away a safe distance, my world goes blank as I black out.
XXXX
My heart feels heavy at the painful memory leading to the reason I'm here right now, the scar that appeared was slowly fading, I was about to get up when I sensed someone unlocking my door, I lay again, pretending to still be unconscious. All three presences all too familiar to me, it was Chayon, his son Haison and Kara, 'why are all three of them here', I wonder.
'Your highness, we're close, closer than ever, I just need a bit more time, it's spectacular how it works but unfortunately it doesn't work the same for your people. I'll check her mark so you can see for yourself'. My ears perked at Kara's statement, whose mark does he think he's going to check? He's definitely not touching me.
'What do you think you're doing? Haison speaks up, causing Kara to pause, you're not thinking of touching her there are you? What is he talking about? Does their idiocracy get any worse?
'I apologise my prince, would you do me the honours instead? I felt him approaching me before feeling his hand tugging at my two-piece. My hand instinctively shoots out, grabbing his arm in a tight hold, he shakes a bit, his face a mixture of shock and fright, he masks it quickly with an agitated expression.
'Don't you dare', I say as I fling his arm away from me, disgusted at the thought of him touching me. 'Careful princess, you don't want to do this with me', upset at his ego being bruised. 'What exactly can you do? Throw me in the dungeon? Hurt me? Kill me? None? Worse? I question, shaking my head, hoping to aggravate him, it works as he gives me a furious look but he should be used to my attitude by now considering he wants to spend the rest of his life with me, if he can't deal with this, he might as well give up, I conclude.
