You hated how much of a morning person Awsten was. It was annoying. While you wanted to sleep in till the very last minute, he was up and about, padding around his kitchen while he clinked pots and pans together loudly. You grumbled as you could still hear him from his bedroom. The clock read 8:23 am, which was not a time you enjoyed being conscious. The Hii Def shoot wasn't even until 11:00 am, why the hell was he up?
A late night writing session had you winding up in his bed for the second night in a row. He really needed to get a guest bed, or at least an air mattress, because you had no idea how much longer you could take sleeping in his space– let alone being surrounded by the smell of him.
The ground was cold against your feet (A/N: Awsten has some of the most fucked up flooring I've ever seen. It looks like it would give me carpet burn. LIKE SERIOUSLY BROTHER GET SOME CARPETS FOR YOUR PLACE I'M WRITING IN THAT HE HAS A SOFT CARPET IN HIS LIVING ROOM.) As you stood, making your way out to the kitchen.
"Can you be normal and wake up after the hour of 8am?" You cringed at the scratch of the high chair against his stupid carpet (SERIOUSLY AWSTEN IF YOU'RE READING THIS ON SLUMBER PARTY WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR FLOORING).
"Not when we got shit to do!" He teased as he plated the pancakes he was cooking, "if you woke up any later we would have been late."
"Bull, I could have woken up at 10:00 and been out the door by 10:20."
"Right..." He rolled his eyes as he placed your breakfast in front of you, "Wanna grab coffee?"
"I'd love to." You smiled, stabbing at your pancakes.
"L word you." He grinned.
You both finished your breakfast and got ready for the day. You threw on one of the new HiiDef shirts and some flowy shorts. Awsten's keys jangled as he grabbed them off the rack, following him out to his car, box of clothes for the shoot in tow.
After loading the car, grabbing coffee (him paying despite your protests, as always), and stopping by Target to grab some last minute supplies (and gatorade), you finally arrived at the pool at 10:56a,.
You greeted everyone as you passed out the articles of clothing, meanwhile Jawn and Awsten plotted, discussing the singer's vision for the shoot.
Small talk was thrown in your direction, but honestly you couldn't care. You couldn't stop staring at him. The way he locked into the conversation, so focused on delivering the colorful ideas that bounced around his head out into the air... It was mesmerizing.
He caught you staring before you could avert your gaze, giving you a little wave. You waved back, smiling to yourself.
"You two are cute." A voice startled you from your gaze.
"Sorry?" You turned to see someone who looked familiar. She was a few inches shorter than you, red hair and striking makeup.
"I don't think we've met yet- Zeph." She held out her hand for you to shake.
"Oh! Hi, no we haven't." You shook it, introducing yourself and giving her your name.
"I know, Awsten talks about you."
"He talks about me?"
"Yeah. He adores you, dude." She smiled.
"Oh– well, I adore him." Your eyes traced back to him, now helping Jawn set up.
Zeph looked between the two of you.
"I'll leave you to it." She patted your back and walked over to help Awsten and Jawn.
It took about an hour before everything was finally ready. Jawn started with Zeph, directing her to go sit on the diving board. You made your way over to Awsten, standing cross armed, silently overseeing everything.
