(This will be a short one bc I accidentally deleted the draft I wrote for this chapter and I cba to write the whole thing again bc it's a boring chapter anyway lol

Promise the rest of the chapters will be longer and hopefully better written

Also in this story Hogwarts has university years so all the characters will be 18+ unless stated otherwise)

Elena walks through the train, led by her friend Carine. She was thankful to have someone else transfer from Beauxbatons, worried about facing a completely new school and country by herself.

Like Carine, Elena also tired of the French school, which to her, seemed to place lessons like etiquette and horse riding as higher in importance than actual magic.

And if Hogwarts was good enough for her Grandfather to teach at for so many years, it was surely good enough for them.

The two girls strode through the train; even their walk had been drilled into them by the Beauxbatons teachers. Despite being early before the train departed, compartments had already begun to fill. And if she knew Carine, she would not be willing to spend six hours sat with first years- or anyone else for that matter.

Her friend's shoulder length blonde hair bounced around her shoulders, her long legs striding through the train. Elena kept glancing in each of the compartments, but they would be unacceptable to her friend.

She stopped for a moment, as she saw a compartment with two of the professors. The older of the two was a witch with greying brown hair, speaking earnestly to the other. A large, sleek black cat sat on her lap, eyeing up the other man.

The cat had good taste, Elena thought to herself. The other professor looked young enough to be a student himself. He had dark hair, high cheekbones and a charming smile on his face as he listened to the woman. For a second, his cold green eyes shifted to meet her own.

"Elena? You found somewhere?" Her friend calls out in impatient french, and turned to look in the compartment. "Come on." She says, after looking inside.

They kept going through the train until at last, they found an empty compartment. Carine threw her bag on the floor with a huff, "Finally."

They both sat down. "So you think that younger guy was a teacher?" Carine asks.

Elena shrugs in response, "Probably."

The blonde giggles slightly, "I hope so. He is gorgeous."

Elena laughs along with her, "Wow, it takes a lot for you to notice a guy."

They are interrupted by a group of younger students sliding the door open to their compartment.

"These seats are taken." Carine says, glaring up at them. They hover for a moment, not understanding her heavy accent. She rolls her eyes in response, "Get. Out." She emphasises the words, staring them down until they left.

As the door slides shut, Elena bursts out laughing. "Carry on like that and I'll be your only friend here."

"Shut up." Her friend smiles. "You really wanted them in here?"

"Obviously not." She carries on laughing. "I'm serious though. You'll need other friends if we're gonna be in different houses."

"Or you could just not be in Gryffindor?" Carine shrugs.

"It will be fine. We have loads of lessons together. And I bet you'll fit right into Slytherin."

The train moved off, fortunately for Carine, with no one else attempting to enter their compartment.
