FOUR JUJUTSU FIRST-years were dispatched to the scene.

and one of them died.

it was one thing to have bad luck, but it was another to live in a cursed world. as if life itself wasn't already unfair— those odds doubled in a sorcerer's circumstances. in your circumstances.

you had seen many people die, you had seen many curses die, you had seen many dead bodies and disturbing scenes of all different sizes and shapes and ages. that being from both your own hands and others'.

but this... this was like reliving a nightmare you never knew you had. like watching your very own soul become food bits for the vultures.

an unprovoked message from the world, a reminder of your placement on earth.

feelings were not to be involved. you remember vividly now, you're hardly deserving of a good friendship and beyond.

did you deserve this? was there a vengeful spirit after you? had you not atoned and been forgiven for the sins of your childhood?

was this... your fault?

likely so.

"MEGUMI!!!"

you panted, couldn't even hear yourself scream as your vision tunneled in on the figures ahead. you ran faster and faster and faster, seeing two of your classmates in the far distance.

the two boys that reminded you of night and day. talking in seemingly calm conversation. but no, it was too solemn to feel relieved.

megumi faced the ground, tired and depressed and frustrated and hopeless.

blood spilled, it pooled the floor and you panicked.

you breathed in and out heavily, lungs unable to even get the chance to process any oxygen.

"ITADORI!!!!"

he turned his head after hearing his name, that kind smile adorning those unique features once again. and for the last time, it seems.
