Broken....But Not Destroyed

Chapter 9

Felix's hands clenched into fists, as he explained to the officers the events that led to him ultimately punching Adrien.  Marinette was required to wait outside the room, and would be called in to give her statement, after all she was a witness. 

"So this assault was not premeditated?", the officer, Carl, asked. 

"Not at all. Mr Agreste requested a meeting with us. Firstly, he was late. Secondly, this was the first time since I had taken over the brand that he requested a meeting with me. Thirdly, he started throwing accusations about my company stealing their designs with no proof at all. And finally, both Mr Agreste and Ms Rossi verbally attacked my employee. I was merely defending her", Felix concluded.

"According to this statement by Ms Rossi, she says that you and Ms Dupain-Cheng planned to attack as Ms Dupain-Cheng as a grudge against both of them. This is what's also running through the media", Officer Carl explained. 

"We can give you authorisation to check our security cameras", Felix offered. 

"Thank you for your co-operation, Mr Graham de Vanily. I'd like a word with Ms Dupain-Cheng next".

Felix waited nervously outside. He hadn't been like this since his mother was admitted into the hospital. Marinette has been gone for 10 minutes, and he could only hope Officer Carl didn't let what he heard on the media blindfold him. He himself had checked the news and to no surprise it was the headlines. In fact, Alya Cesaire had written an article and somehow they had gotten hands on the footage, which was edited to the part where he had punch Adrien. 

After hearing about the school drama, he had done some research on the class. His best guess was that either someone who didn't like Marinette was bribed from his company to get a hold of this, or that IT genius Max had helped Alya get her hands on this footage. 

He was currently watching the news, where Ms Rossi was giving an interview to none other than Alya Cesaire.

"We will not be taking this to court, as it is kind of a family issue. But you see Felix is jealous of Adrien's success. Adrien himself even talked about how Felix envied Adrien's popularity and ability to makes friends, from a young age. So no, I don't believe Felix is remorseful about it. I believe he had waited for the right opportunity and planned this with Marinette. She's obsessive and possessive over Adrien. She even believed they were going to get married", Lila cried.

"I see. So if you are not taking this to court, then what do you plan to do next?", Alya asked. 

"Well, as compensation we're going to ask for the his company. It's falling apart anyway. He's even lost his branches in Italy and France", Lila sobbed, pretending to feel sorry for him. 

"Felix?"

Felix looked up to see Marinette coming out. He quickly switched off the interview and proceeded to her.

"Everything alright?", Felix asked concerned. 

Marinette shook her head. 

"Instead of going to court, there's gonna be mediation to see if we can settle it out of court. The police think Adrien and Lila have a higher chance of winning", Marinette sniffled.

"Are we allowed to go?", Felix asked.

Marinette nodded and they left the station.

"I should let you know", Felix began as they got into the car, "Adrien wants the company as compensation".

"What!? He can't do that! I understand asking for money, but the company!?", Marinette shrieked. 

"Unfortunately that might've been his plan all along", Felix admitted.

"What do you mean?", Marinette questioned.

"I think after we had the highest sales, Adrien was set on taking me down. It didn't matter if you were the designer or not, he would've found a way to get me to assault him and then take the company. Either by asking for it as compensation or ruining my reputation and driving us to sell", Felix explained.

Marinette paled. Adrien planned it? From the beginning? That didn't sound like him, but Lila may have had a certain grudge from years ago when she tried to model for Felix.

"You said when Lila tried modelling for you, it didn't work out?", Marinette questioned.

"Yeah, she tried flirting with me and getting too close. She was very unprofessional, so I denied her", Felix told.

"Lila knows how to hold a grudge. If anything, it might've been her plan", Marinette sighed, "And it worked out even better cause I ended up being there". 

Marinette got out of the car, which pulled into the driveway and went inside the house. 

"Marinette! It's not your fault!", Felix yelled chasing after her.

"But it is Felix. I cam into your life and now you're losing everything", Marinette cried.

"Because of you I had one of the greatest sales since I took over the company", Felix reminded her.

"But you lost two branches and half your workers. You're gonna lose the rest", Marinette argued.

"You're only thinking about work. But I'm thinking of everything. You made this house, you made me feel less empty. Less lonely. You brought something special to my life Marinette", Felix confessed staring into her bluebell eyes. 

"Felix...", Marinette whispered as she stared into his bright green eyes. 

The two slowly inched closer together. Their lips only a few centimetres apart. Felix knew what he wanted. He knew how he felt. He closed the gap. His arms snaked around Marinette's waist and pulled her closer. She didn't push him away but leaned into the kiss.

Unknown to them the kwamis were watching everything.

"I'm so glad they finally got together", Tikki cheered. The rest of he kwamis cheered is well, a bit too loud, which cause the two to separate.

"Tikki!", Marinette yelled, blushing. 

Lila smiled as Adrien finished the details with their lawyer. 

"I can't believe she went to work with Felix. And she stole your designs and passed it off as her own", Alya cried.

A few of the class had come over to comfort Lila and check on Adrien. He was fine, but had a massive bruise.

"She couldn't get over Adrien so goes after his look a like", Alix rolled her eyes. She always found that it was a bit over the top, Marinette's crush on Adrien. 

"You alright dude?", Nino asked, when Adrien came back.

"Yeah, hurts a little, but nothing broken", Adrien replied.

"But that interview you did with Lila would sure ruin her", Kim smirked.

"Yeah, after all now everyone will know what she's like", Rose added, a little saddened that their sweet friend Marinette ended up like this.

"Aww, thanks guys! You're the best", Lila hugged them.

Adrien however couldn't push away that unknown feeling he was having. He didn't like Marinette, or Felix but he most certainly did not like both of them being together. Why?
