Back then, I didn't know how much that party was going to affect me. If I had the chance, I never would have gone there. Or maybe I would have, just to see her face again.

❖❖❖❖

Five years ago.
31st December 2018.

The past month has been pretty bland, honestly speaking. Vincenzo and Alexander have been interrogating all of our warehouses and so far not too many of them had been corrupted. Not too many.

"But still there were some."

I personally paid a visit to our lovely spies and gave them some top tier gratitude at Phantasm, just not above the basement sadly. Some of the bastards quit the moment I stabbed their thigh, while some remained loyal till their last breath. The information however did not prove to be of much use. That obviously proves that Callister was behind this.

Clueless till demise. That was the moto, for both the Familia and the British. The one Callister managed to steal from us.

I straightened my tie and looked in the mirror, quite satisfied with my appearance. I chose a simple black Armani suit paired with a black, velvet tie which seamed appropriate enough for the occasion. Not like he deserved any more respect than that.

It was almost 4 p.m. and the party began at 7. I had a total of three hours to set my plan into motion. I left my room and went down to the darker side of the Phantasm, or more precisely, The Basement.

The Basement was where most of La Familia operated. It was built like an inverted version of the Phantasm. Ten floors filled with illegal operations. Only members of my mafia and some other guests were allowed access, that too with extreme caution. Most of my men were between the upper five floors and if you get a position on the lowest floors, consider yourself lucky.

I entered my elevator and pressed Vincenzo's floor, floor seven, comprising of the best and most loyal men of La Familia.

The door's of the lift opened to a lavish room adorned in marble walls and red drapes, covering artificial windows. There were huge paintings hung on the walls on either sides of mine and the doors were camouflaged against the walls.

I went to the end of the hallway and opened the door to my front revealing a large room fully covered in shades of black and grey, contrasting to the lavish decor on the outside. Near the end of the room was a desk behind which I could see my brother screaming at someone on the phone.

As if hearing me enter the room, he finished screaming out his anger and hung up on the man and turned to face me.

"What is it?"

"Mason wanted an extension for his debt. Again. Don't worry, I'll get it out of him in a few days." Vincenzo replied.

"Take care of it. Are the men ready?"

"Yes. The best ones we have."

"Good, get ready, we leave in an hour."

"Thank you- wait an hour!" Vincenzo exclaimed, finally seeming to have relaxed from the phone call.

"Yes, hurry up, and wear something decent. And don't go whoring yourself around at the party."

"Of course brother, and I'll try not too." Vincenzo replied. "Who are you planning on taking with you to the party?"

"Alexander and you will be accompanying me and Derton will be our bodyguard." I replied.

"Not Vivienne?" Vincenzo asked.

"She's going to manage the base while we are gone."

"What about Cam? Isn't that her job?"

"Cameron is also going to be coming with us to the party. She said she needs to be near the control system to be able to override the code."

"Is that safe for her?" Vincenzo asked, concerned.

Cameron was not a field agent. Her physical strength was shit and she was one of the least flexible person I had ever met. Her stamina runs out in the blink of an eye and no amount of exercise can fix that. Furthermore her charisma was shit, she couldn't seduce anyone, that was mostly Vivienne's job.

However, she made up with her lack of strength with her brains. She is the best hacker La Familia has and is one of the best in the world. Very few people are able to break into her code. And those who do, let's just say, they don't get to breathe till the time they manage to access our files.

"Another reason for you to not whore yourself out, you are going to be her date for the evening. Keep her out of trouble and get her to the control panel."

"Can't you get someone else to do the job? You know that woman creeps me out." Vincenzo complained. He walked over to a full length mirror to check his attire.

"Also, is it alright if I wear this to the party?"

"You are going with Cameron, that's final. Please put on a suit you look disgusting." I replied, eyeing him in his white linen shirt.

"Fine, give me ten minutes, I'll get ready."

I nodded in acknowledgement and left the room. I walked down the hall and turned into another room with dark walls and a high ceiling. There was an elevated platform at one end of the room where Alexander was explaining something to Derton from his tablet.

I walked over to Alexander and the groups of four or five people went into murmurs around me.

"Are the preparations done?" I asked Alexander.

"Yes bossman. Around 50 men will be surrounding the perimeter and 10 men will be inside the hall. The plane you ordered has also arrived at the airport under the name of Vincent Kingston." Alexander replied showing me the reports from his screen.

"Great then. Let's get going."

A/N

This is by far the laziest and shortest chapter I could come up with but I swear I have a valid reason why. I will finish this book, trust me. Next update might come after 2 weeks or sometime in between lets see.
