"Mia.. I.. love you.. will you go on a date with me?" I smile before saying, "Sure Reecey! I'd love to!" His face lights up. Then the bell rings, so we go to our classes.
I am so thankful Autumn warned me, I don't know how I could've dealt with that, without knowing he was going to do that, I would've probably made him so sad.
On the way home, I whispered to Autumn, "Thanks for the warning. I really appreciate it." She continues walking, and mumbles a quiet "No problem." Is she okay?
-
Deep down I knew Mia didn't like Reece, that's why I gave her a heads up, so she wouldn't hurt him, I knew that's the last thing she wanted to do to him. I know she cares about him.
When we got home, Reece was much more cheerful than usual. "So what did she say Reece?" I asked him, I knew the answer, but he doesn't know that. "She said yes! I'm so happy!" I smiled slightly. "Thanks for giving me the courage Aut!" He smiles, before going up to his room. I feel bad for him, I know Mia doesn't like him romantically, I feel bad I told her he was going to do that, the truth hurts sometimes, but he's already in enough pain.
-
I feel bad to be playing with his feelings like this, but I can't hurt him.. he's already hurt enough. I'll just play along to keep him happy.

The next day, Reece and Autumn asked their father if they could go out to the park with Mia. He allowed it, since he did want them out the house.
When they went to the park, Mia was waiting on a bench. Autumn wanted to speak to Mia, and had to quickly think of a plan to get Reece away. "Reece, do you have money with you?" She asked. He reached in his pocket, "Yes why?" Autumn was happy, she won't need to think of another plan. "Could you go get me and Mia something to drink? The shops down the street." She asked. Mia seemed weary of this, Autumn's tone was very stern, Mia knew she wanted something more. "Sure why not? What do you want?" He asks, holding the £5 bill in his hand. "I want some sour cherry juice." Mia said. "Just get me a water." Said Autumn. As Reece left, she turns to Mia. "Everything okay Autumn?" Mia asks. "I know you don't like Reece. Why'd you accept to date him?" Autumn asks.-
How on earth could she know that?! "Why do you say that?" I ask her. "I know you love him, but only as a friend, not romantically. That's why I warned you." How does she even know that?! "How do you know that?" I ask. "I just can tell. Why are you going to play with his feelings like that?" She asks me, I can tell she isn't mad at me, she's just concerned for Reece. "Autumn I'm not going to play with his feelings, but telling him I don't like him back would break his heart."
I felt a bit sad, why would she think I would play with his feelings? He's my best friend.
"So you're going to lie to him? Say you love him.. and don't?" She scoffs. "Autumn would you rather I tell him the truth? And hurt him? Cause him more pain? You of all people should understand why I'm doing this."-
"Mia that's cruel. And what if he finds out? That's gonna break his heart even more than the original "no". I know Mia means well, but I can't have her play with my brothers heart.
"Autumn, I know it may seem like I'm doing this to hurt Reece, but I'm just trying to make him happy." We pause for a minute. "If it bothers you so much, I'll just tell him the truth. I'm sorry Autumn." That shocked me, she would do that, just because it bothered me?
"Sorry Mia, I was being a bit harsh. Just don't hurt my brother." She smiles at me, "Thats the last thing I'd ever want to do."Reece comes back, and we continue the hangout as usual. I feel really bad for Mia, I regret saying all that stuff, I know she's in a bad position. Either she breaks Reece's heart, and risks ruining their friendship, or she lies to him.
It must be hard for her too, this relationship is gonna cause her more pain than Reece, she's going to have to lie about her feelings for him.
