The years passed, and the world around them continued to change. The aftermath of the war faded into history, new heroes rose to take the place of the old, and life slowly returned to a semblance of normalcy. But through all the changes, one thing remained constant—Shoto and Y/N's love for each other.
Eight years had passed since that snowy night when Shoto had finally confessed his feelings, and now they stood together on the balcony of their home, watching as the first snow of the season fell once again. The city below was quiet, the snow covering the streets in a soft, white blanket, just as it had on that night so many years ago.
Y/N leaned into Shoto’s side, her head resting on his shoulder, her hand entwined with his. “It’s just like that night,” she murmured, her voice full of nostalgia.
Shoto smiled, his eyes soft as he looked down at her. “It feels like a lifetime ago,” he said quietly. “But also like it was just yesterday.”
Y/N nodded, her eyes fixed on the snow-covered world outside. “So much has changed,” she said, her voice tinged with both sadness and hope. “But I’m glad that we’re still here. That we’re still together.”
Shoto turned to her, his hand gently tilting her chin up so she would look at him. “I’m glad too,” he said softly. “I never thought I could feel this way, not after everything that happened. But you… you’ve given me a life I never thought I could have.”
Y/N’s eyes filled with tears again, just as they had on that night eight years ago. But this time, the tears were of pure joy, of a love that had only grown stronger with time. She reached up, cupping his face in her hands, and pulled him down for a kiss. It was a kiss full of all the love and gratitude she felt for him, for the life they had built together.
When they finally pulled apart, Y/N rested her forehead against his, her tears of joy mixing with the snowflakes that had landed on their faces. “Go and sneak us through the rivers, flood is rising up on your knees… Oh please…” The lyrics played in her mind like a distant memory, echoing the emotions that had brought them to this moment.
“I love you, Shoto,” she whispered, her voice full of warmth and certainty. “More than anything.”
“And I love you,” Shoto replied, his voice equally soft. “I’ll never stop loving you, Y/N. Not in this life, or the next.”
As they stood there, wrapped in each other’s arms, Shoto gently whispered, “When you’re all alone, I will reach for you… And when you’re feeling low, I’ll be there too.” His words were a quiet promise, echoing the sentiments of the song they both cherished, a reminder that no matter what the future held, they would face it together, hand in.
