Chapter 1: Game Over
"Bring it on!" Xavier yelled. "Oh, you're so dead." Sally giggled in a serious tone. "GAME OVER, Player 1 wins!" Popped up on the screen. "Ah, dang it. I keep losing and it's so frustrating and annoying!" Sally mumbled. "Just try again, there's this thing called improving." Xavier laughed. They both were about to click the retry option, when they realised that a new option had suddenly appeared on the screen. They had never seen it before, it was called: Experience. Xavier just said to try out the new option. Sally had her doubts but she agreed.
"BOOM!" The TV exploded and a portal opened up. It was like a blackhole! The clock was ticking faster than ever! Sally got sucked in the mysterious glowing portal. Xavier managed to get a tight grip on a corner of the living room wall. Eventually, he lost his grip as his sweat on his palm made it too slippery. The portal closed in a blink of an eye.
Xavier opened his eyes. All he could see was his girlfriend talking to someone. He got confused and asked while putting on his glasses, "Who the hell are you talking to...?" His eyes that were just filled with blur finally cleared. He saw a girl wearing overalls, chestnut brown hair tied into a bun with a pair of wings. Without a second thought, he grabbed a nearby wooden log and pointed it at the stranger. "Who the hell are you and where am I?" Xavier screamed while trembling in fear.
"I come in peace. I do not want to hurt you in any way. My name is River, River Andrea Luff." The stranger said as she offered her hand while looking at Xavier with a gaze. Xavier always had a toxic relationship with Sally, he doesn't like her anyways. "Im Xavier... Xavier Fritz." He said in a soft tone as his strict gaze which was staring at River's eyes slowly turned softer. River blushed, not because she was embarrassed, but because she thought he looked sweet. "His gaze softened..." River thought to herself. River just assumed that she was overthinking. "Are you going to take my hand or what? It has been dangling here waiting for an answer since I introduced myself." River said in a strict tone while stuttering. "Oh! I'm so sorry, heh." Xavier said embarrassingly while taking River's hand.
Meanwhile over in Sally's mind, she was just worried as she was just beside them and watched the whole situation escalate. Why were they blushing? Why did his gaze soften? Thoughts kept rushing into her head faster than the speed of light.
In a fit of rage, she stormed into a room right beside her. She clung onto her face and ripped it off like it was a piece of paper. Shortly, a mask began to form on her face. Her eyes were glowing in the dark and was stuck with a permanent smile on her mask.
Outside that door, Xavier kept banging on the door and was extremely worried, "Sally! For Peter's sake, if you don't come out in the next 3 seconds, I'm kicking this door down!" He said in an angry tone. He started counted and as he said zero, he kicked down the door. It took him a couple of tries but in the end he wished he never kicked the door down.
Across the dark room, he glanced at his girlfriend, in shock. Sally had a plastic mask with a smile on, you could see the gore in her face, butterfly wings sprouted out of her back, her spine. Roses and vines surrounding the wings. Xavier saw for a split second, the bottom of the butterfly wings were covered in blood. Assumed in tore through her skin and flesh, Xavier stuttered, "Hey, are you okay? You made a little mess there..."
Faster than lightning, Sally responded with a countdown. Thinking it was time for him to run as he thinks Sally's going to murder him, Xavier stormed out of the door and ran past River. "Hey, what's the big idea?" River yelled since Xavier accidentally pushed her to the ground. Since the door wasn't closed, she had a glance inside and quickly ran along with Xavier.
"3...2...1, here I come!" Sally yelled aggressively. She usually doesn't act like this. She was always a kind, caring teenage girl. But, now she was quite the opposite. She was aggressive, rude and more. After the countdown, black liquid goo (sort of like the one from Venom) started to surround her. Butterfly antlers grew too. She had always humiliated him and made him lose his pride.
Xavier managed to find a glass door closing and slipped right through in time. He stares at the monstrosity in a strict face, but deep inside he was sad. "You took my pride away, but you'll never take my life." Xavier said.
