Ms Sharma wrote on the blackboard in big block letters,"MAN DESTROYING NATURE".
"But before we begin, Amber, I would like you to know that the school has a rule that students are not allowed to bring scissors ✂️ to school until grade four. You may use scissors ✂️ only in art 🎨 room under art teacher's guidance. If anyone gets a pair of scissors to school, they are sent to the principal's office," Ms Sharma made herself clear.
I remembered the silly rule was invented because of one silly boy who cut his nose with the pair of scissors in the school premises and his parents had made such an issue about it that the school has to make a new rule of not allowing students to get scissors to school !
A pair of scissors is such a wonderful tool but because of one silly boy a ridiculous rule was introduced to school !
Amber nodded,
"Now could you all reflect on the topic I have written on the board?" Ms Sharma asked.
Amber, the girl took Aditi, ma BFF, away from me, and the girl who I, Pari, was not going to like, raised 🤚 her hand. "By pollution," she said.
"Yes but could you be more specific, Amber?" Ms Sharma asked."My dad says if we throw things into the ocean we are destroying marine life 🧬," she replied.
"That's very bright answer, Amber"Ms Sharma seemd pleased 😀.
I wondered what was so bright about it. Everyone knew what she had just said! I immediately raised my hand ✋, "My dad says, if we throw a little anywhere, not only in the ocean 🌊, we are polluting our environment".
"Yes, Pari, that's right".
Vishnu said, "Industries, cars and trucks cause a lot of pollution. "That's why my younger brother suffers from asthma".
"I am very sorry 😔 to hear that", Ms Sharma said.
Someone said,"Humans cut down trees because of which we have more carbon dioxide in the air and less oxygen".Aditi added,"lots of animals have become extinct because of humans destroying animal habitats".
We discussed more on environment, and everyone came up with new interesting facts. I was realising that humans really were messing around with the earth 🌎. Just to make Ms Sharma had messed around with Aditi and my seat 🪑.Finally it was time for my favourite class, the drama class. And in the drama room we could sit where we want, and there was no Ms Sharma to separate Aditi and me.
Mom always called us the "inseparables". To mark our friendship, we collected one dirty sock every year and kept them as souvenirs. The sock did sink, but friendship came first! Mom being the cleaning freak that she is, followed tha foul smell ( I swear they weren't as stinky as she said she found them) and threw them out!
Both of us were very upset with Mom for throwing away our collection! But we decided to have a now collection. We started to collect one strand of hair for each year of our friendship. We could never run out of them, because hair grows on your own head!
Though Mom was not very happy about that collection either, when I cut my hair for my new collection, I cut a good chunk and she said I looked like a chipmunk 🐿️! We had to visit the hair stylist immediately and she cut my hair in way that made mom happy.
Our drama teacher, Mr Brown, clapped his hands and shouted out, "so, fourth graders, are you ready for the big news?" As he laughed, his tummy shook up and down behind his suspenders, making us all laugh with him.
We all Loved Mr BrownWhile most teachers were serious, Mr Brown was the mast joyful 🥰 😊 teacher in the entire school! I wished Ms Sharma could be more like him!
I sat up straight and alert for the news, hoping it would be a play! And if it indeed was a play, I was hoping that I got the lead role."Annual day three weeks from now and since all the classes are going to perform something before the parents, I have chosen a play for the fourth graders" he laughed louder this time, and we all laughed with him. It was not a funny announcement but Ms brown was generally happy 😁 person.
This was the best news I had heard all morning. I looked over Aditi and we did our famous high five by punching our hands and then waving 👋 it in the air.
*What play are we going to perform?* Vishnu asked.
*I have decided on The Selfish Giant by Oscar Wilde,* Mr Brown said gave us a beaming 😁 smile 😊.
*The selfish Giant?* I asked*Aren't we going to do a fairy tale play, Mr Brown?* I didn't want to be a giant and I definitely didn't want to be a selfish giant. I wanted to become a fairy who helped everyone.
*Fairy tale are babyish.* Vishnu said,
*Pari is a baby,* Vishnu made face.
I ignored him.* Mr Brown, I love acting. Please could I be a part of a play?* Amber jumped in.
*Are you the new girl, ?* Mr Brown asked her and gave her one of biggest smiles 😊 😁
*Yes, sir.*
*That is wonderful. I am glad you like drama and I am sure 😊 I shall find something good 😊 for you,* he said.
Mr Brown always made sure everyone was happy with their roles and that's what made him my favourite teacher.
*Could you tell us the story of The Selfish Giant, Mr Brown?* I asked.
Sure, Pari, and we are going to have some real fun 😊 when we act in play,* He laughed so loudly that I wondered if there was a chance that it could be fun to act in a play about a giant. So enjoy guys I don't have anything to say but if you like it please kindly comment me
