There was dripping rain under a heavy summer storm. He was chasing me, and no matter how far I ran, there was nothing I could ever do about it...

I woke up sweating, despite the bitter cold of the basement floor. Soon the warmth turned into cold sweat, and I found myself looking for a wool jumper among the clothes inside my trunk. I was about to open the door towards the living room area, when I heard the entrance door open abruptly, and the sound of two girlish voices burst in loud screams.

I can't fucking believe you! —a voice, the more high-pitched one, screamed. The door shut violently —. You're a slut!

I was taken aback by how fast the discussion had escalated.

Did you seriously expect me to never find out!? —the same girl kept going.

I meant to tell you ! —the other one replied. The latter voice sounded familiar, so I figured it was the voice of the blonde roommate who hated me.

Don't you dare lie to me, Hellena, because I know it when you're lying to me.

Hellena. That was her name.

— So what!? —the so-called Hellena shouted in frustration —It's not like you cared much about that relationship anyway!

— Who are you to question my relationship with Darcy!?

— I am not questioning anything! The entire school knows how little you cared for him! Just ask Artemis!

— This is not about what I did, Hellena, this is about what you and Darcy did! —there was suddenly a silence among them, and for a second I was scared that they could hear me standing behind the door. I didn't mean to listen to their conversation, but it was frankly impossible not to.

He's the only boy I've ever liked! Why do you always have to be such a bitch about everything I do and like! —Hellena defended herself.

Oh, don't play all innocent and victim-like here! There is nothing innocent about my sister fucking my ex!

— It wasn't like that, Nina! You know Darcy and I...

Nina, the other girl, suddenly let go an arrogant laugh.

If you think you are any special to him... trust me, you have him all wrong —Nina said in a dark voice —. He's only going to break your heart.

The fight stopped abruptly, and I heard the door opening and closing again, with a louder slam this time. Next, I heard Hellena sob in the way into her room. She closed the door right after, and then, the silence was back. Intense, I thought, putting on the dark blue wool jumper I had taken from my trunk. I put it on and soon I was out of the suite.
